That depends on the effect you are actually looking for. PowerPitch uses a combination of pitch and throat length to modify the voice in a more realistic way.

Base pitch uses a much faster and more basic algorithm.

You'd need to try and tweak, looking for ther right setting and balance manually

Voice-mod is the most forgiving and generous when It comes to subscriptions, 1. A 1 time payment, and 2. It goes on insane discounts almost every session

If you look at subscriptions on other things there all so expensive and very few provide a 1 time payment, infact on a lot of year subscriptions it’s 100 dollars which is the equivalent to voicemods 1 time payment

Some sounds and music get filtered out by the Quest, it’s known as there’s no way to disable Quest’s noise suppression at the moment, unless Meta changes that soon hopefully.

Oh also VRChat has it’s own noise gate and noise suppression system, you might want to disable them as well in the game

Well, there are a couple things that could be happening as tech can be pretty stubborn at times

The Quest could be constantly trying to override external audio, changing back to the integrated mic, like fighting for dominance.

The connection might be loose so every movement makes it lose the signal (it’s a bit hard to troubleshoot as one would need to test every bit in the audio chain until you find the culprit).

Or the VMKey is defective. It’s possible but also really easy to troubleshoot, as if you have another console you could test it there and seeing if it just works as is, or if it doesn’t work in any device.

Testing is always your best friend.

Still, I’m sorry it hasn’t been “Plug & Play” in your case as it should be, I’ve been using mine for months without issues but I guess that’s just part of diversity, since setups can vary wildly from person to person

What should I do then?… how to do I force my my quest to stop using its own mic and use the mic in my headphones?

That is a good question to what I do not know the correct answer to, my Quest 3 sometimes disables the external mic setting, yes, but doesn’t have many issues besides that 🤔

Quick question would be, do you hear the audio dying or cutting off after some point or is it that people tell you that it’s cutting out?

Do they hear the voice effects for at least a moment?

These cases kinda make me wish I could be there to help troubleshoot personally tbh :D

That was fixed months ago, but it depends a lot on your hardware, unsupported hardware still can’t render the content (this is usually only on devices over 10-13 years old with integrated graphics, like the Intel i3, i5, i7 6k or earlier )

Let’s see, they don’t hear you, it means that the audio is not fully passing from the VMKey to the Quest. Two things that could be the biggest culprits:

a) Quest 3 “external input” setting isn’t working (you can test if it is by connecting your headphones directly and seeing if they still hear you, but with a different quality of course, as it would sound like the headphones mic and not the Quest 3 mic which is actually a really good mic)

b) The USB-C to female 3.5 mm Jack cable (if this is the issue, you might be able to test it on its own by connecting it to a phone and your headphones, then trying to hear things from the headphones played on your phone and recording your voice with the headphones mic.

2. VMKey.

If your VMKey is defective, you’d easily detect this by trying to use it on another console like a PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X. Since those consoles don’t need the Jack adapter, you can test the direct connection as is, and see if people hear your voice effects. (Best voices for testing are anime voices like Kawaii or Akari and The Narrator as they sound very human and noise suppression systems let them through with ease).

If it works perfectly on other consoles, then the VMKey is working correctly.

If the issue starts when trying to use it in your Quest 3, it might be a or b.

If it’s a, you might need to contact Meta support to tell them the toggle isn’t really working, as the headset isn’t changing the input to the external one.

If it’s b, you might need a new or different adapter.
