Voicemod relies on API calls to get all of the content & relies on a connect to the servers (Cloud based). This is the same as discord and other services.

I can assure you criticism has not been shushed, we will be keeping all of the above messages, I'm also in the middle of writing up the communities feedback to the team along with a video capture of the messages, the server was unfortunately locked down temporarily to prevent unnecessary spamming and might I add death threats.

It is almost 1am for Voicemod Staff, we acted quickly and fixed the issues caused by our server provider.

Please let me also add that the way this discord server is operating should have no influence on the company or Voicemod as a Brand. I am the Staff representative responsible for this server as the Voicemod Discord Community Manager and will be held accountable if necessary. The mods and helpers are not a part of the Voicemod Staff/Dev team who are capable of fixing the issue. So action needed to be taken to prevent further issues within this server also.

Arnt, the servers are just authentication servers, though, to make sure people paid for it (aka an anti-piracy measure). I don't think they do any processing of the voice. Of course, while you all have to provide updates, those don't require a constant connection

As, for the threats i do understand some people can be unhinged but shutting down the whole means of discussion over a few bad apples seems to be overly strong of a response and can easily be abused to dodge criticism as other companies have tried in the past and i just simply do not find it to be a good enough excuse as that can be used by any company at any time when something happens and they receive criticism

1. With the current way Voicemod is designed it relies heavily on the servers (see what Naturo said)
2. Because most of it isn’t actual criticism but instead people having a fit because a non-critical application wasn’t working for a short while, or just sending nonsense for the sake of it because the server became super active due to the others.

• What little valid criticism there is gets drowned out by everything else and is often not delivered in a calm and constructive manner.
• We need to continue moderating, especially in times like this, to ensure we continue to abide by Discord's TOS. If it becomes too much to handle then we need to enable slowmode or lock down the channel(s) to make sure that any potential problems from that are nipped in the bud. I'm not sure if you would trust my word since I'm a mod here, but this is the first time I've seen things locked down. Whenever there has been issues in the past the only action I've seen enabled was slowmode to give us some control. This is a community server, lots of people of all ages join here and we need to make sure nothing gets through that shouldn't do. I wasn't here during all of this but I can say it was done because it needed to be. It would never be to silence concerns but the enforce our rules, discord TOS and to protect members.

The APIs are needed both for authentication and to retrieve content. (it would probably be possible to make it be able to run partially offline, but I don't know the details)

Over 200 message edits and deletions were logged in about an hour (normally it's between 0 and 20) and over 400 (possibly over 500) messages were sent in that same time in just this channel. The moderation bot we use has been having a few issues lately and this didn’t help things.

I understand that Discord experienced an API issue, but it seemed to be resolved before the Voicemod outage was announced. I’m not upset about the outages; they happen. However, I am curious why Voicemod requires a constant internet connection. From my understanding, all processing occurs on the device itself. The connection primarily serves for authentication.

While I recognize that there are business reasons for this, it feels anti-consumer. I can see that the soundboard search may need an internet connection for accessing new content, but features like voices and already downloaded soundboard functions should be usable offline. If the service relies on servers for processing or other core functions, please clarify. From what I gather, it mostly seems to be for authentication purposes.

Our server provider went down fully which also stopped our API from working, whilst the API was only down for around 14 mins. But Voicemod was no longer able to fetch content due to our server provider still being down and we had to wait until it was restarted. Meaning authentication to the servers was not possible to fetch the content.

Automod, for example is our security system in this discord server. Warns, mutes, bans, triggers are all setup to automatically prevent certain behavior and protect this community from NSFW & NSFL harm.

We have processes in place and we will take action when required. This was one of the very few cases where I had to take full action and lock down the server. Sadly due to discord also having an API issue, our moderator bots also went down in this server. Lockdown was the only option in this moment to stop any damaging content from being shown to our users.

Real time support updates was provided here in #📢┃announcements which all of our users in this discord server were able to access as well as be alerted of the progress.

As said above, I'm just the community manager still working at midnight, I am highly active and on call beyond my expected 8 hour working day and I always aim to keep this community safe, whilst I try my absolute best, I'm unable to ensure full trust and sometimes respect with this entire community.

Unfortunately due to our server provider being down, this prevents us to push live updates within the APP so we have no other form of communication.

I'm aware of that issue and it's really disappointing on the part of those companies. Voicemod may stop offering the Lifetime option at some point in the future but Naturo and probably several other Voicemod staff have made it clear that those who have Lifetime licenses will keep them. As someone who bought Lifetime myself I would be very disappointed and upset if they went back on their word.

Just because something is added to a soundboard doesn't mean it's downloaded. It may be fast enough to seem like it is, but it isn't. Try opening Voicemod, turning off your wifi, and clicking on various thing.

Games that don't have an option to select the input microphone use the system default, so you can set it in your system’s settings and it shoould work.

Select Voicemod as the mic in VRChat's settings. If VRChat doesn’t have an option to select the microphone it uses for whatever reason then you need to set Voicemod as your system's default microphone.

Make sure you have the output in Voicemod set to the headphones you're using. Also if you use Mixer Mode in Voicemod's settings make sure the slider for sounds is up and the little mute button at the bottom hasn't been pressed.

You can get something pretty good with Power Pitch and Robotifier. Some other good ones you can add to it are Distortion, Double Pitch, and Flanger.

I set the pitch of Power Pitch to 30 and modulators 1 & 2 of Robotifier to 15 and 85 respectively. You can play around with it a little to get it to sound the way you want it to sound

you may find 35, 10, and 90 to be easier to understand

for standalone you would need VM Key because Voicemod cannot play audio into other applications on mobile due to operating system limitations. (the Quest OS is built on Android btw)

V2 is the old version of Voicemod, it's pretty old and is built on a lot of Windows exclusive tech so it's being phased out.
you can find the download link to it here #🚀┃setup-voicemod message, but it's no longer recommended unless you're an old Pro user who already has a lot of stuff on it. It's fine to experiment with tho.

Because V3 is voicemod, it allows us to do many things far better than we ever could. V2 is no longer being worked on because of this and will be shutting down the same as what happend with V1.
