There was no indication that elite tokens would be useful for anything other than what they were so exchanging them was the logical choice since if you grind ranked you have all the rank rewards and having over 100k weapon xp cards they were best used for credits. An alternative grind able currency would be preferred over one that people could have saved if they knew they’d be useful. Kinda like how they’ll never have a credit shop legendary for that very reason.
