That does sound like a good idea and different crops could take different times to grow, so what, if for example, carrots would be the fastest crops to grow, but the least food efficient, so that means carrots grow the fastest, but lack in dispersing food among the people and another crop like, for example, wheat, would take the longest to grow, but could feed the most people or different crops, could also only grow in different seasons, like wheat would grow in spring potatoes, would grow in summer, pumpkins in autumn ect

i like the current farming system, i think it makes the most sense in the game as there are only a few different resources to manage and its easy to understand. its one of my favorite farming mechanics in games that arent focused on making farming a big thing.
