a friend of mine just got the game and tried playing the prologue. During the prologue none of the normal dialogue audio plays and the text box only appears briefly. he verified his files and i redid the prologue and it happened to me too. I then checked the hanger and Iris's audio continued to be bugged while the humans were still normal.
#Iris Dialogue not working

Same here as well
PC, sounds like from "verified his files"?
And what version of the game?
0.4.10.106
the issue started before he verified his files. he did that to see if it would fix it
Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I was asking to confirm this is on PC, correct? And I saw the "verified his files" which is a steam thing, so it appears PC is his platform
yes we are both on PC
Will test this myself at home soon, but if another tester can confirm like @fringe needle that'd be great
Also (presumably known issue) in multiplayer only the host hears the story related dialogue from npcs in the hangar.
just ran through the prologue and everything seemed fine
any special audio drivers that could interfere like razor headset, I seem to recall that giving trouble somewhere
im not using any special audio drivers my friend is using the ones
it was just a guess since I assumed if something with the audio driving messed up maybe it caused some other issues as well
like the dialog staying up till the audiosample is played etc
any chance you can look at your logs
%localappdata%low\Keepsake Games\Jump Space\Player.log
how do i do that is it in the game files?
the first part is a windows variable, if you throw it in file explorer, windows run or the search bar it tends to bring you there
it should resolve to C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\LocalLow\Keepsake Games\Jump Space\Player.log
cant find it
you might not have access to it by default and windows complaining when you do try
im trying to serach for it again give me a while
Same here. Fresh install today just 30 mins ago.
I get one or two to stay up and actually process: "My name is Iris by the way" and the Hostile Jump signatures only. Everything else the box shows up and promptly disappears.
I wonder if it's a setting somewhere that fresh installs have set differently then ? (-resetProgression, did not trigger it)
If it helps, I'm fully updated Driver's wise. Also I watched a streamer yesterday and They are getting dialog in the cutscenes where I am not. This may be conected.
Thanks for reporing the issue and giving us a bunch of info to go of. I am taking a look at this right now!
@native girder I'd like to +1 on this issue. Just installed yesterday. Didn't even realize Iris could speak because I never heard her. When I did the prologue today (yesterday I joined a friend), I heard exactly the same voice lines as Maldagon. Everything else was a dialogue box that popped up for a split second before vanishing, too fast even to read.
Drivers are fully updated, but I am playing on Linux. Cache was successfully validated on Steam.
We have a fix in the experimental branch, coming to you within 24h (unless someone finds something broken there).
you can try it out if you want to, but your progress will not be saved.
Awesome, much love! My friend and I had a blast! We're big fans of Void Crew and Pulsar, so this was right up our alley. Appreciate y'all's hard work getting the patch out.
glad to hear!
This has been fixed for me. Thank you.
