#Cant connect to my friend always says "determining universal constants"

We have the same problem, we are on the same LAN, in case that matters. When we boot up to play, stuck on "Determining universal constants" always happens on the first attempt, then we abort the connection attempt and just send a new steam invite and everything works fine. We never had a single connection issue before in countless hours and now it always takes precisely two attempts
Same LAN connection? Interesting
Can you send me your latest logs from:
%appdata%\..\LocalLow\Keepsake Games\Jump Space
From the sessions where you did two attempts and got through. Logs might mention what the difference is between the unsuccesful attempts and the succesful one
We have the same issue at the office actually, but I didn't know it happened live as well. Going to debug this today. Usually its like the first attempt failing and when one retries it works. Does repeat attempts not resolve it for you @mint merlin ?
in our case it was due to a CGNAT issue since both me and my friend were under the exact same one which we later discovered it affected all peer to peer connections once i've fixed that the issue was solved
Glad to hear it! I'll see if we can add some detection for this sort of thing to help people out in the future
how did you resolve it? one of you VPNs out or so?
not toooo sure but there should be a networking error log when peer to peer fails or at least i think there was such a error msg in civ 6
just called the isp and got a static ip address back since i wasn't even aware... or told that i was put under cgnat in the frist place
ah, "cool" 🙂
thanks for answering btw
