Well, a turret would be able to completely neutralize an area, like the cargo bay doors, or the wide open space when you're doing overrides. Localized defenses and buffs limit you in your mobility, while a turret frees you up to run around and not worry about a whole zone.

So, IMO, unless the amount of bots spawning skyrockets, a turret might be too much.

And if the turret can only shoot in a certain angle? Like not full 360 degrees but like 120 degrees top with a limited shooting distance? Maybe even just pistol shots. Give it limited ammunition and it's not too overpowered, I guess. You still have to take it with you, place it and then it can provide some backup.

For high difficulty the turret could be very usefull but yes she need to be balanced and this might not be hard to do so

But what I suggest is a Buddy ordered on wish. Give it worse aim since Buddy is a freaking Gunslinger!
