erm its actually called a railgun 🤓 ☝️
do we know anything more about this? or why it was nerfed?

I think it was because back then in the demo, railgun didn't use any ammo so it was basically free burst dmg at a huge range
Also with legion blueprints you could one shot some ships and sometimes the rest of the group wouldn't even notice (i think they fixed this)
See to me thats cool. If it's "too powerful" for you personally to think its fun its a PVE game dont use it. Theres no leaderboard or downside to something being OP
well it wouldn't makes sense for a ship to explode and the rest of the ships to not notice, it was prob more like an accidental double nerf

we loved it in the demo and now its straight worse than the point defense
eh i would say that railgun is still quite good, it has really good burst dmg and can instant kill snipers with a weakpoint hit
I havnt found any other weapons but it seems pretty terrible compared to the simple multiturret
but if they are extending the range theyre gonna fix it
yeah i want my range back, it was so nice againt snipers that flew off or stray ships
it also is meant to be long range its so awwkward and awful to aim below 1K
the laser goes further than the bullet
Well it also has that issue where it doesn't shoot where you're aiming when you're moving.

I don't use the rail gun anymore doe those two reasons.
Really short range, plus inside that range no one wants to sit still long enough to make the shot.
No there's videos on YouTube showing that it just ignores where you aim it.
if they are already fixing it though then its fine

I want to revive this thread to say that after getting the fire and forget missile system, we absolutely need the 1.5km range back. If anything, maybe even further. It just can't compete with the missiles at this point.
It should have enough range to hit snipers. Fair is fair.
Absolutely. They don't do that much damage in the grand scheme of the scaling, with its long load time and manual aiming, additional range would give it a huge distinction advantage without power creeping the missiles.
+1 not sure the intention for limiting the range, but since, my group has been much less interested in Jump Space.
