A way to keep items safe from random people and mission failure a safe that everyone can access but is unique to them to allow me to put down my gun without the worry of someone else taking it and then leaving in addition if you fail the run it would be a place to put your items for collection so you don't loose them permanently instead of trying to find the item again

If you're worried about someone taking it, don't put it down. 🙂
I think normal inventory could solve this problem.
A backpack with slots that can be upgraded to provide more space, a longer-lasting jetpack, a medical station, a shield, etc. Weapons should have separate slots. Each player can carry two weapons. All other items go in the backpack.
Then the game will accommodate both weapon upgrades and a small system of weapon components, such as compensators, sights, grips, magazines, butts, etc.
I don't think the game needs that, to be honest. The current inventory is designed intentionally to force you to have to make choices. Do I want to carry 3 guns into a fortress? or maybe 2 guns and a foot ammo crate? Or, maybe I want 1 gun, and 2 slices of pizza. And if I'm already carrying full inventory and see a new shiny gun to loot...what do I put down in order to pick it up?
Also, the jetpack is already infinite duration...what do would 'longer-lasting' mean?
