Upgradable pistol

Would be great to be able to upgrade the pistol to turn it into a small rifle.
Like with different attachments that change exactly how it looks and performs.

Something similar to the weapon major West uses in the lost in space movie.

i agree to a point, the pistol cant overshadow the better guns or why would you use them. But making the pistol a way to lean into other gameplay styles sounds great to me. Let me choose if I wanna use a med cartridge (probably very weak or limited use) instead of pistol round, or a stubby double barrel, or a hacking tool, or a Long range single shot, or a mine or trap tool. i think the pistols could be a great way to implement different play styles without reworking all the other guns. though admittedly, adding all that is probably just as much work.

that would be awsome... few improvements would make a long way... fewer shots more dmg or more shots so at least it could take out the smol biped with one mag
