#Mission length

This game is wonderfully fun however I am concerned that the mission length may limit it's popularity.

Working full time, being a parent and a gamer finding 90 minutes to do a single mission (longest have seen so far) feels like there is not much consideration for the time that gamers have to invest into games for rewards.

Does anyone else feel like this?

My suggestion would be to quiz the community on the mission lengths being suitable as outside of some Warframe events and mmo raids spending 90+ minutes on a mission it a heavy investment of time.

It would be nice if missions refreshed every now and again like in DRG so you can have a wider selection of options.

The length of the missions just means how many jumps you need to get to the end. I think it's great that there are 20 - 1.5+ hour missions.
That way, I can always choose what I want to play depending on how much time I have.
It's also true that so far, I've only needed a maximum of 60 minutes for each 1.5+ hour mission and have looted everything.

In other games like Helldivers or Cult of the Lamb, where you always have your mission or run, it's structured similarly.

Agreed that this is an issue. If I want to unlock components, I need to pick a 1.5 hr mission to make sure that one of the zones will have them available.

#

Even adding the ability to save when jumping zones, like Void Crew implemented, would be huge.

We totally agree. We will look into this. And make sure mission lengths are distributed in a correct and fair way as well as making sure it doesn’t feel like you have to play the 1,5hr missions to progress.

That was never our intent.

Unfortunately, some sectors are limited to a select few missions, particularly the longer ones (I’m looking at you Pillars of Quara), and the missions that are on the shorter end like Sabotage don’t allow you to earn components or map charts making them redundant for progression

Yeah i get it. We will discuss this internally tomorrow.

I just started playing and got to the third sector and pretty much only have 1 hour to 1.5 hour missions available. The horrible part is yesterday i was like "ok.. im gunna do a 1.5 hour mission to progress" then coming up to the end of the mission my game crashed and because missions dont save your progress at all it was a complete waste of time. Can we make missions be able to save progress? like at each jump point have an option to return to a "sub-hanger" or "port" or something to save the progress?

I do find the missions can go for a very long which makes them rather time consuming
While the time shown is around how many jumps there are, some of the missions have absolutely taken a very long time

I agree, I really love the game but I find it hard to dedicate 1.5 hours during my normal schedule to play so that only leaves the weekend or at night. Most of the time I actually think damn I want to play JumpSpace but dont have 1.5 hours time to progress so I go play something else. Great game though, Good graphics, smooth game play, great concepts, really look forward to how the game evolves. The mission lengths has been my only pain point so far.

Like honestly I ended up opting to more salvage runs because they are way shorter
So I get to have more time in the rest of my day

We will have a better distribution of missions with shorter lengths as well.

I like long missions

we could just forego the whole discussion about the accuracy of the length display if it would say "8 Jumps", "3 Jumps" instead of a time, but i accept if this is a less liked solution

Honestly, each mission type should have a slider attached to it with a min and max number of jumps, and let the players set it as they want. It shouldn't be hard to tweak the procedural mission building to accommodate that, while adjusting rewards accordingly.

You could do that, but i was thinking the ingots, cash, xp
