#Dropped MultiTool

I was playing with a friend and during a lvl2 Crashed Cargo Retrieval, my buddy saw a MutliTool sitting on the shelf in our cargo bay. He picked it up and found he had two in his item slots, neither of which he could drop. THat was when I noticed I did not have one of my own. We were unable to move the Multitool, and became locked out of completing the mission because a cargo container door required two multitools to open. We tried respawning, but I did not get a new tool.

We finally had to abandon the mission. When we arrived back in the hanger, our inventories were completely reset. We both had a single multitool, but we had lost all other items carried.

@glacial willow Steam is being a pain and not letting me download the video I captured of the bug, so here's proof that I did, indeed, somehow drop my multitool, lol

@glacial willow @astral mist if it helps, @turbid steppe 's story would possibly explain what happened to mine. My friend found my multitool sitting on the bottom left shelf of the cargo bay storage sitting doubled up with an artifact I'd dropped. I may have fat-fingered the 1 key and swapped to the multitool as I was dropping the artifact, or I may have hit it and the Q button the swap the items at the same time.

For the record, this happened on the last jump of a mission chain, and we'd have kicked a room full of puppies to be able to build a new multitool so we could actually complete it 😛

# astral mist Sounds like you were able to swap out your materia gun with another item? That i...

Sorry I can't drop the video for you, but that's potentially the case. The moment it happened isn't clear in the video, though. We were in the middle of a fight when it happened and I didn't even notice it until we'd jumped to the next part of the mission. My friend (McCreary in the screenshot) didn't notice it was sitting there until he grabbed the artifact and saw it himself. He picked it up and obviously couldn't drop it himself, so we got locked out of mission completion by a two-person door.

ah, yes. I can see in the code that there might be a fraction of a frame where it might be possible to actually put the materia gun there 😅

if the timing is right 🤔

I'm going to block what I "think" happened to you, but haven't been able to repro it yet. so can't guarantee 100% this is the issue! I guess we will see if it pops up again 🙂

Good luck, guys. We'll all keep trying desperately to break the cool toys you gave us 🤣

I'm going to chime in. First time playing the game, went on my first mission with friends, somehow dropped my multitool, could not make a new one, could not find it, and had to leave the mission so the others could complete it since the mission required all of us to open a door with it.

I think it'd be worth looking into making the multitool always craftable or making it not take up an inventory slot if it's not intended to ever be exchanged/dropped.

@astral mist FYI, I saw you guys just added a tool respawn to the unstuck button. Thank you!

On a side note, would it be rude of me to cash in on this opportunity of having your attention to make a singular, unrelated suggestion/request?

No promise needed! And I think you might enjoy it.

If you haven’t seen it, go watch the 80’s Disney movie “The Last Starfighter.” It’s a fun movie on its own, but it also has killer spaceship combat that 100% applies to the pilot-gunner mechanics you guys have n place already.

I think you guys have a really unique opportunity to turn the pilot-gunner relationship into something amazing.

Seriously. Please go watch it. Make everyone who works on your spaceship team watch it.

That’s all I ask 😍
