#GPU maxing out and crashing

If your GPU is maxing out before crashing your computer, I've figured out that this can be fixed by lowering texture resolution and capping FPS. I set texture resolution to half and FPS cap to 90 which worked for my system, but depending on your specs, you may need to try some different options.

Having similar issues. Had the game crash about 6 times during the prologue so far. AMD 3700X CPU, EVGA 2080Ti, 120hz ultrawide monitor. Game runs about 70-90fps, but will have GPU nearly maxed out. Had two most recent crashes cause system to lock up and restart my computer.

Going to try limiting fps to 60 to prevent GPU maxing out, but leave textures alone to eliminate one thing at a time

Can confirm, limiting fps to 60 worked for me. I finally finished the prologue, which I wasn't able to do this previously.

I believe as long as the fps is capped below the fps when 100% GPU usage, it should work. I'm going to bump it up to 90 fps cap and see how things behave. My average max fps were in the high 90s, but it also would be in the 70s at some points as well.

I had the power limit on my GPU set to 119% in MSI Afterburner, which I've set back down to 100% when I also limited my fps. I'm sure that didn't fix it, but combined with running the GPU at full tilt made an environment that was more prone to crashing/locking up.

I'm not using any frame gen, no DLSS, and my textures are still set to "full".

Thanks, good stuff!

If you have both an internal GPU and a standard GPU try disabling your internal GPU I’ve got 2 cases of this fixing a crashing issue

would like to mention the crashes still happen when you have vsync on so turning that off is probably crucial

Interesting what’s your GPU?

Probably lol

Hmm can’t be an internal GPU issue 3700’s done have one

Wait could it be not just an internal issue
