#Allow rebind movement keys!

Dudes - seriously;

It's 2025, and we don't have basic accessibility features as simple as rebinding movement keys, yet I can boot up any DOS game from 30+ years ago and rebind all of my keys. Not everyone plays with WASD, or has a QWERTY layout keyboard. The easiest fix to this, is to simply allow everyone to rebind any and all keybinds as they wish.

I sure hope so. To many games as of late limit players into the singular WASD layout, and it's really getting tiring having to deal with it on more ergonomic, but non-QWERTY keyboards.

Ugh - The invert controls don't invert the zero-g jetpack flight either.

Came here to post this feedback as well. Not being able to change all the keybinds is just absolutely dumb. I refuse to play or buy any game that hardcodes keybinds.

Just adding another +1 to this suggestion, I don't use wasd so the game is nearly unplayable for me at the moment

it feels like in the last ~5-10 years its become a bit of a crapshoot with each new game if they're going to have serious key-rebind issues

  2. Prioritizing other ”larger bugs” (crashes, disconnects etc)
  3. Not enough thorough testing before release.

well, cheers, from us freaks for working on this, lol. personally since i was a kid I used a monstrous combination of "RMB forward" "M backwards" ",. strafe left/right"

I definitely don't miss when LShift was ADS/Zoom, Space was Use/Interact, and RMB was Jump in the wild-west of control layouts during the mid-late '90s and early '00s

We've always had our list of must-have accessibility options, the game will be so accessible in the future.
But we gotta start somewhere and this is just a demo before early access even starts.

But we appreciate the enthusiasm and being hyper clear on what's important to implement early

Some engines better than others, for sure. Some input systems are just basic templates though; which is why we have keybinding issues in other titles that haven't gotten their green checkmark through testing.

I gotta disagree captain so many games have messed up controls, my main point and reference as always Star Wars outlaws vs. gta (any series three and after)…
Star Wars outlaws share controller settings across three different systems for literally no reason. You can’t set controls for walking and piloting to be different and the problem is they should never feel the same. I literally can’t play outlaws for that reason the game is a literal how to get players to divest walking …
now you take gta your driving, your walking, your piloting, and boating they all feel different so it feels like your doing something different the feel of world simulation…
every game should establish a feel of world simulation and players experience that through controls, that’s why bungie works hard for the right shooter experience while having lackluster story (cough destiny)…

There's a difference between doing it bad and having a dedicated engineer to only deal with this sort of stuff.
What I'm saying is having a dedicated person only dealing with input is not a good solution.

*EDSF (Us OGs denote Up/Down/Left/Right from arcade and 4th-5th gen home consoles, before WSAD became a thing, and was later referred to as WASD).

Ironically, Half-Life's original release by Sierra was the first game shipped with "WSAD" as a control option, but defaulted to EDSF, as Gabe himself is an EDSF-er.
