Like you declare war to take one duchy and the other person, if they accept, attacks another duchy nearby in a joint-invasion. Your forces would be friendly to one another. no, the point is to declare semi-separate wars.
Basically a deal with your ally, that you are both going to attack England at the same time, for different war goals, and that your armies are considered allies during those wars.
