Had an event in a hunt today where I could choose to try to take a boar down by myself, the option said there was a 14% chance of death and since the autosave had gone off only two days prior I figured I could just load the save if I died and retry. Well, after more than ten attempts, I died every time. It seems whether or not you die if you click the option is decided before you even get to see the option. This seems like an unintended bug, perhaps introduced when Tours and Tournaments patch updated how hunts work? If this is intended behavior I'd love to know, but it really seems like it should be running the odds on that when you actually click the option instead of before you even see it.
#Hunt death chance not actually randomized

it is randomized if you do something different beforehand like arrange a marriage or disown a child or divorce a spouse. if you just do the same thing youll get the same result. a bit of a weird thing w the rng
I tried a few things like that and it didn't seem to have an effect
i think it has to be something immediate like granting or revoking a title
Game has a stored random roll as a measure against save scumming.
This sounds more likely if it's NOT a bug, but it'd be nice to hear some confirmation on it. Could probably manipulate it to still save scum if you know what you're doing, of course, but it'd be harder.
It's the way randomisation works in computers. Being general to explain it, if you use a seed of 867 then get 3 numbers, then reset the seed to 867 and 3 numbers again, you'll have the same numbers.
Between your save and the hunt, the AI probably isn't using a random number. An immediate way you could force it would be to give a county to a random vassal of your religion or culture, since it spawns a character in.
Buddha was sort of right, assuming it is a single rng and it's nothing else, if a new number is used by the AI/you in those few days then you'll be getting a new random number. Which also, could be within the chance of death which makes it harder to track.
At a 2 day period, the odds are you're buggered. If an action to get a new number is still in that death period, you won't be able to do another event to get a new number. If you're a month away from the event you'll definitely be able to savescum, the odds of it working just drop the closer you are.
You could maybe declare war to leave the hunt early
