which OS are we talking about? The web api can only work on windows and android (in tauri land). Not sure if it's enabled in the webviews though.

so if you need support for other platforms you'll indeed have to use rust. You can expose some of that to the js side via tauri commands but i think polyfilling the web api will be tricky.
