I'm excited to showcase Readest, an open-source eBook reader built with Tauri v2.0. Readest is a modern rewrite of Foliate, designed to bring a seamless and feature-rich eBook reading experience to macOS, Windows, and Linux users. Support for mobile platforms like iOS and Android is also on the roadmap!

🔑 Key Features

  1. Parallel Read: Compare books or languages side by side with synchronized views.
  2. EPUB & PDF Support: Versatility to handle your library, including experimental PDF rendering.
  3. Customizable Interface: Adjust fonts, layouts, and themes with ease, powered by daisyUI.
  4. Integrated Smart Tools: Built-in dictionary, translation (DeepL), and Wikipedia lookup for enhanced reading.
  5. Cross-Platform Synchronization (Planned): Sync notes, bookmarks, and reading progress across devices.

How in the world did you mannage to get this whole thing working in under 2 months? that is insane

#

Also, how did you handle highlighting and annotations? Im working on an app with similar features, so was curious

Could you view two different translations of the same book side by side with ebooks? So that the section you're reading of translation A shows translation B to the side?

I haven't tried it yet but the UI looks clean,A lame suggestion in your website :), your linux install downloads an AppImage which works on almost every distribution, so you are not just targeting Ubuntu(in which case, a native .deb compilation would have been downloaded). So, its better to replace the icon with linux logo(the penguin) to convey greater availability across linux.
