Hey! 👋

I've developed the second version of the Alice app I wrote about a few months ago.

Since then, I've completely changed the UI and expanded the main features, which now include:

  • Completely new interface
  • Full screen mode and docked
  • Conversations with multiple assistants, each with their own skills (prompts and remote actions)
  • Integration with OpenAI models: GPT-4-turbo, Whisper, GPT-4 Vision, TTS, DALL·E 3
  • JSON mode for OpenAI and Groq for building remote actions allowing to connect the assistant to make.com automation or your own applications
  • Integration with other models: Anthropic (Claude 3), Groq (Mixtral/Ollama), Perplexity (Sonar), Ollama (any Chat model)
  • I've also simplified onboarding for new users
  • I've significantly improved performance and moved a large part of the logic to Rust.

Looks nice, but one of the things I ask myself about the many proprietary projects out there (like yours) is why you do not disclose that you are using Tauri (or the rest of the OSS tech you are using for that matter). Is it embarrassment, security, oversight? Just curious because as open source maintainers we rarely know how our libraries are being used (other than this showcase or the awesome repo).

Would you put a "badge" on your website that says something like "Made with Tauri"?

@blazing depot a large part of my activity takes place in Poland. I run quite a large design & tech community there, and everyone knows which technologies I use to develop this project. Moreover, I also discuss this topic in my other educational initiatives, and I know that there are at least several projects currently being developed that use Tauri. Of course, I'm not 100% sure, but from what I understand, the fact that I'm developing Alice in Tauri has influenced their decisions.

cheers for the explanation - i didn't mean to sound weird or anything! My point is just that there is one big thing that helps grow the tauri community, and that is to make people aware that it is being used. Every effort in this direction is a way to actually give back to the community.

yep. You can use the System Tray to create a menu bar item and leave Alice running in the background. This way when you click on the icon it can open a menu and the app

Alice currently has about 4000 users. Many of them are my clients who use my other products and members of the community, here in Poland. In the app's early stages, I included Alice as a bonus in my courses on automation, no-code, programming, and AI.

When the app was ready for its official launch, I asked them to write a few words about it.
