I want to prevent the user from running more than one instance of my application at a time. What would be a typical way of enforcing that on application startup?

Is it stable enough for production? There don't appear to be any releases

it is used in production already for what it's worth

#

there are no releases yet because we're not yet sure about the auditing stuff (like for example, only release audited versions, or release 0.x releases however we want and only audit 1.x)
