#Will of Fire - Balance Change

đŸ”„ Will of Fire (Leaf passive) is too strong.

Context:
Sand and sometimes Mist are usually outnumbered by Leaf in raids. Not only do we fight bigger numbers, but Leaf also has:

  • Regular revives from medics
  • PLUS Will of Fire (5% chance to self-revive after 10s)

Why it’s a problem:

  • Deaths are staggered so Leaf is constantly rolling that 5% chance while others try to save/heal.

  • Will of Fire can proc multiple times on the same person, so someone you kill can keep coming back in the same raid or hunt.

  • The more Leaf players there are, the more chances for revives. With 25–30 Leaf players, that’s constant bodies popping back up.

  • In large-scale fights, it’s already hard to protect and revive our own allies. On top of that, we have to watch Leaf corpses too, making sure they don’t self-revive which splits our focus and punishes us even more.

  • Compared to Sand’s stealth and Mist’s water charging (both situational), Leaf’s passive directly adds extra lives into the fight, which snowballs hard.

  • Not only does the self revive affect raids it prevents other players from gaining their bounty or arresting them if they have crime +5. A hard earned kill is taken away from players because once they revive someone else could land the final blow.

  • Each time a Leaf goes down we have to camp the fainted player for 10 seconds to ensure they dont get up. If it procs multiple times then thats another 10 seconds. In a fight where every second counts this becomes stupidly annoying. Add the chaos of 40 players all fighting at once the chances of them getting up and running to safety is huge.

💡 Proposed change:
After Will of Fire procs, apply a 10-minute “Weakened Spirit” debuff so it can’t trigger again right away.

  • Keeps Leaf’s identity (resilience and surprise comebacks).
  • Prevents chain revives on the same players.
  • Makes large raids fairer for Sand and Mist, who don’t get free extra lives.

I didn't even finish the whole thing at first; and the solution of 10-minute debuff was running through my head the entire time. Only to see you came to the same conclusion. 😂 AGREEEEED.

I honestly feel like they should be stocking up on an effigy of sorts too. I'll carry a stack of pocket sand for perfect stealth if needed to be fair. Mist can have some shoe icon with a blue line of chakra underneath to stack.

Then these OP methods will suddenly have a dramatic (or cheap?) cost attaching to them. Making it a choice to use and waste materials.
Maybe using a max stack limit of the 1 effigy, then 10 of the other two villages.

No passive without cost.

Would also be able to turn them into banned items. Bringing balance to the 1v1 / 3v3 arena that mist can have their water buff from using outter edges.
Or in my negative case. We won't be perfect stealth running into chakra backlines in the big war events.

10 minute cooldown + ability to choose (if WoF procs) to stay on the ground and accept your fate sounds great. Because it is also incredibly annoying when you’re in a losing fight and you keep reviving despite the fight being over or impossible to turn around

So I can't say that Will of Fire is overpowered. If you need it, you never get it. But if you want a "taxi," you get revived constantly. And in PvP fights, to be honest, if I do get a Will of Fire, it's only to die a second time. Besides, the chance is very low, so I think 10 minutes is excessive

The reason it’s deemed the strongest passive (and overpowered by extension but meh) is because in large scale fights, each individual Leaf player has a chance to get right back up during the first ten seconds of their death timer. This means every time a Leaf is killed, their body must be watched to make sure they are really down. But if you don’t divert part of your attention away from the fight, you take the risk of letting zombies run all over.

The most annoying part is that you can revive multiple times in a row with Will of Fire, sometimes on the very first second, making it look like you didn’t die at all.

Combined with the fact Leaf is generally the most populated/active village, and you have a nasty combination. They turn really quickly into a horde of zombies.

A suggestion to lessen the impact of that passive was to limit the number of activation permitted in a certain time frame, hence the 10 minutes cooldown

It's not that low of a chance though. That's why we've seen people pop it 4 times in a row or more. And it's not rare for that to happen. Uncommon, at best.

Yes running solo or in a small group you likely will die again when it pops and it does not feel it's that good.. but if you're in a raid, wof gets you to your backline. That gets you full healed. And that just keeps snowballing when its multiple people getting back up. Thats already strong but they can also do it MULTIPLE TIMES to those MULTIPLE people and it gets out of hand. It's insane.

The counterplay is waiting 10 seconds when you down a leafie and chase the WoF if it pops - but you can't really do that in a raid, like dora mentioned. It feels out of place compared to the other two, to me. This passive just needs an entire rework imo. Biggest issue with that though: what do we change it to?

Honestly i like passives. It gives village some extra identity which is neat. But there will always be a "best" one. Balancing it is a nightmare i imagine

Change wof to be a once every 10 minutes (time can be up to change) if your hp drops below 25% leaf will receive a blood pill effect and heal 100-200hp (can be changed)
