I've said it a bit on some chat but here it is.
The base speed of scarab is actually the same as someone running. It is also slower than basic mount speed as shown in the video attached to this post where I race against the Sand basic one with the Scarab Mount.

You sure it isn't frame/lag difference? Try testing bouth mounts a set distance by yourself and time it, if you haven't that is. Big desert probably the best place since its size will minimize human error. Also test with jumping? Might have larger leaps or something from the scarab idk.
