it has already been established that ranks will be obtained via events, though it has not been listed the details behind those
it is expected it'll function as RPG2 did
which, so long as the playerbase isn't a bunch of low skill players, will make it so ranks actually mean something as far as skill
thats fair enough
My only problem is with having ranks gained through events is that if these events are only really hosted through the discord and the ranks provide actual advantages then it pretty much guts quite a bit of players from ever gaining that part of the game a majority of roblox players dont have the time to attend or may not even have discord (in some countries) its one of the things i never liked about CC games
for example its a huge turn off of the game when you see that hashira rank/spec can only be obtained by attending a discord pvp tourney and the spots are limited to one person each breath out of thousands
its pretty much the same as saying "oh you arent chronically online? you arent getting hashira gg"
Aside from hashira, I doubt any ranks will provide any advantages, as is the case with rpg2

I dont really remeber how they did it in dsrpg2 its been years since i played it
Tournament based and you can challenge the spots
but i dont have a problem with the ranks as long as im not inherently at a stat disadvantage to the person with it
The only ones with advantages in rpg2 were hashira/um, as was said, which accounted for like 10 people
Or some amount like that
They were meant to only be for the best pvpers, hence the exclusivity
yeah but thats exactly the problem 10 people out of probably given this game a couple HUNDRED thousand is just insane and
Hence why it won't be a problem that those are the only ones receiving benefits, and they'd have earned them
Would you rather ranks be pve obtainable and hashira/ums being everywhere with those advantages?
Or have those few who actually earned them via consistency and a system
I'd argue most would opt for the latter
as i said my issue is in the disadvantage you are at if someone has hashira spec you could be better than them but not by enough to win you the match given they have a LITERAL BETTER SPEC
In the matches to earn them, the fighters are often set on equap footing
its like someone is already good enough at pvp to not really lose to anyone why make them more op lmao
Meaning either both are given the spec or the one with it has it removed
It's considered a gift for them proving their skill
Idk i never liked discord exclusivity on roblox
what all do they gain from the rank
Ranks had no purpose outside of hashira/UM and usually you wouldn't encounter those people
most game devs often gate entire moves behind it
They gained a handful of levels and flashstep, which functioned the same as rolling did
It just had a different animation
Same distance, maybe a slight change in the speed of travel, could still be read/interrupted the same
And the level gap didn't really sway a fight unless it was an absurdly close match
Plus in ranked/gamemode, everybody is set to the same level
So if you put yourself in a location where you are strictly pvping, their advantages were reduced further
I guess my final take on it is that If they arent massively powered up and entire moves i.e flame hashira being the only one able to use 9th form arent gated behind it it isnt an issue
it has always rubbed me the wrong way regardless
The only gated stuff was moon behind UM1 and testing of water 5th
Which water 5th later got released to public
and they have stated they wouldnt be adding moon or sun to this game right?

Not publicly obtainable, and not severely op
They'd be specific community events, not guaranteed to be pvp
Such as how the anime rng idea happened (horrible decision btw)
yea as long as they arent gating tons of power/content behind it like some other games its fine
We've always done our best to avoid those mistakes
The only instance of those specs would be vid, who made his own breathing as he is a dev, Nate, who does whatever he wants as he functions as much as the boss here as Higo does, Hybrid, who has the Muzan spec due to being head of demons, and whoever the active head of slayers is, which right now is Yama though idk if he has his spec
Higoshi only has sun and is so ass it makes no difference for him on rpg2 
Hybrid and Nate can one shot people, though Nate does so with commands
Vid heals when charging his breathing
I think dev specs are healthy as running into a dev is rare and its just cool to run into them as long as they are not abusing it
Kagaya gets ultra instinct or some shit
and it lets them show off some stuff they can do and tease stuff they add
