I will keep it short- I have a server on aternos, it is java 1.20.4 and we are using paper for plugins as far as i am aware, bedrock players cant join since mc updated, I updated Gesyer and ViaVersion, but I think I need to install Viabackwords or ViaRewind- Do I need to install the version of gesyer that is for 1.20.4? or is the latest update okay? I can also provide some logs or whatever but this isn’t a technical issue, this is a I cant wrap my brain around it issue. thanks.

to summerize:

1: does the newest version of Gesyer work on 1.20.4 ? aternos only offers the latest.

2: Do I need to use ViaVersion or ViaRewind or Viabackwords? And if so, how do I set that up with gesyer?

Built-in Geyser

Instructions

Install Geyser in the Aternos plugin list and connect to your server with your Java IP and port. See Aternos's article for more details. Do note: Aternos automatically installs the latest version of the plugin, but does not auto update it. To update Geyser on Aternos, simply reinstall the plugin (no need to uninstall the plugin/deleting the plugin files).

^ other than that, see here on how to use Geyser on Aternos

Then I wonder why it isn’t working, I installed the latest geyser and the latest viaversion, tested it with the IP and port as it says it should be, but just says “cannot connect” 🤔 i will check out the articles you sent though, thanks.

#

wait, so it wont work unless im using 1.21?

jolly wagon
#

It will, that's not quite true

#

Geyser-fabric only works on 1.21, Geyser-Spigot will work fine on 1.17.1+

slender gate
#

oh ok, 👍🏻

#

do you know how to check what version of server pluggins we are using like paper vs spigot and ect?

jolly wagon
#

the Aternos panel will show you that

!!dump let's see a geyser dump

Run geyser dump (server console) / /geyser dump (ingame chat) on your Geyser instance or server, then copy the link it will give you and paste it here. A Geyser dump is a way of providing us with a bunch of useful information about your server and Geyser config. This doesn't include any IPs or sensitive data.

it says geyser is using spigot and my server is using paper

#

is maybe that the problem?

#

but it worked in the past 😵‍💫

jolly wagon
#

That's fine

#

Which port are you using on Bedrock to connect?

slender gate

Aternos should be setting everything up for you. Try entering the Java server IP (visible on the panel page) as the server IP, and the port 19696, and connect using those - that should work

slender gate
