Hi all, I’m new to custom boards and just got a barely used Molly60 kit with FR4 plate. Have got some Outemu Silent Cream Yellow switches laying around so I plopped those in…but some of the switches aren’t completely ‘flush’ with the plate (don’t have a photo atm but I can send one later), especially the ones on the top row. They are solidly in there though and are working, so is it a cause for concern? I’ve tried slightly pushing the plate upwards but it didn’t change anything.

Also what foams would you recommend? Kit came with 2 bottom case foams (a denser one with film/tape applied and a regular packing foam typa sheet), PCB foam and damaged plate foam (that’s torn around the spacebar area). I want it to not sound too muted.
running it foamless atm it sounds slightly hollow?
Hey, I went completely foamless in mine and don't have any hollowness with Alu. Same applies to FR4 when I tried it out in it. One thing I did with mine was force break it so give that a shot just to rule out any case ping. Will attach a sound test of mine with an alu plate to give an idea of what it can sound like foamless.
For the plate try using a plate fork when pressing the switches in. I found the tolerances are tight with their plates.
thanks for the sound test! i've used some band aids around the screwing points and the l/r sides and it does seem to tone down the ping-yness quite a bit
I’ll try to get some pics of mine later. It’s pretty much covered in a layer of artisan tape since there’s so many contact points.
I think i know what you mean because its a soft plate when you try to push it in the plate will go down with it
i would just take it out and re put in the switches that arent fully into the palte
