i think what makes tomodachi life's creation tool insanely powerful is that you don't actually need to pick colors correctly
if you use a base color, and then pick the darker option with a "Lock transparency option" you can just shade it darker by constantly redrawing that curve
and if you have horrible non-steady hands, use the smooth tool
the smooth tool is like a post-correction stabilizer curve tool that mostly corrects your curves to be less jagged as if you were on probably about 80% stabilization
use lighter to add a shine, even without cahnging color, or changing to white and focusing on where light reflects
if you don't know how light reflects, do some basic pillow shading OR just refer to the glorious ball

i know this seems LIKE A LOT!! but it's actually insanely simple. Think of a base color, shade darker where the light isn't focused on, then add a bit of light on that darker area to create a bit of defused light reflection, then on the opposite side, create a light curve and in the forefront of that object create another bright area
aka the highlight
insanely basic abstraction of this concept
and the best part is you dont' need to do the drop shadow
you just focus on everything as if it is a ball
the shadows you can focus on for more complex objects but if you're drawing something you have on hand, where you put the shadows and reflections on the object itself becomes easier
Tomodachi life allows you to ignore what colors to use completely and you can just pick your base colors and use them to shade with in each situation-- if you want to be a bit more accurate with colors you can use other colors to shade or brighten to make them pop but for the majority of something more "realistic" you don't really have to

I think this game is incredibly lacking in content, even when you engage in making your own, which the game clearly really wants, theres only a couple scenarios your miis can get into involving them. They only really talk about words or phrases you’ve told them, barely of ever fight, don’t interact with anyone without permission, and don’t really…say or do anything of their own volition. I don’t understand how they worked on a game so long and seemed to not work on anything at all. It’s lacking a ton of content and personality and it’s very sad. I think without some sort of update to add a shit ton of new content the game will be dead in a couple weeks when everyone’s seen every scenario barely a month into the games life. The miis don’t really feel alive or like individuals anymore.

And yeah there's some things that need to be cleaned up. I'd like more mini game diversity, I'd like to see a few more "Rarer" cutscenes or dreams

if you get bored of that, try something different, add to the pool more, make something stupid as fuck, or stop playing

I don’t think so. It’s one thing to be more creativity focused, it’s another thing to lack an actual gameplay side of things. If the goal is to create then the devs have to do their part to make an actual fleshed out game to go along with it.
People are bored not because they’re tired of creating, it’s because after that you see maybe a couple cutscenes and that’s it. You’ve seen it all. And that’s not ok, especially if it’s going for $60
I wouldn’t even call it a good god sim game because again, barely anything happens.
It’s not a good designing game because they don’t give you many options to create with.
And it’s not a good simulation game because they didn’t program very many things being simulated.
I don’t wanna say it’s a bad game, but it’s not a very fleshed out game.
Pokopia is different because it does feel like a full game, and creativity is the goal and theres a ton you can do with that. They succeeded making it feel like you can make whatever with whatever. I think Tomodachi life failed in that regard because it’s lacking in so much content to play with.
But that’s my take. 🤓
