Most of the new skins suck now and are too overpriced

I’m glad Fortnite is releasing less collab skins this chapter but come on man

The overall aesthetic is gone

Everything is super shiny for some reason and looks out of place

This has been a thing since like mid Chapter 2

Where’s the pizazz

Where’s the dirt and scratches and pins and dog tags

The wonky looking face models that had charm to them

#

These are two battle pass skins from Season 3

#

Look at Rust Lord for instance

#

His helmet has assymetrical spikes and an incredibly detailed texture shown all across the skin
He has some pins on him and the colors used blend well

#

He’s got holes in his helmet of all different shapes and sizes

#

He’s got a beat up look to him that a lot of skins had at that time

#

His jacket and gloves are tearing
His bandana has dirt all over it

#

He’s even got these little spikes on his gloves

#

Each one being assymetrical and full of dirt

#

Now look at Dark Voyager

#

His lights alternate between orange and yellow, something you don’t see anymore

#

His suit has a bit of a wet texture to it, also seen on Toxic Trooper and made more apparent

#

He’s got all this old tech and gear strapped to him

#

He’s giving a little thumbs up

#

He’s got all these logos and pads that make you wonder what they mean

#

And he wasn’t even tier 100
He was probably on the same level as a shop skin at the time

#

Now let’s look at skins from Chapter 6

#

This is Karl Keyes. A new skin that just released a few days ago for 800 Vbucks

#

Now first off
His outfit is completely all over the place

#

He has random stuff thrown on him just for the sake of it with no rhyme or reason

#

He’s not mysterious or up to interpretation because he has a name and a backstory unlike skins from back in the day that went by a codename or a nickname

#

And also

#

His texture is super bland

#

Where’s the dirt? Where’s the grime? The grit?

#

Where’s the color palette that pleases the eyes?

#

The skin looks and feels like a nothing burger

#

And also he’s INCREDIBLY SHINY IN GAME FOR NO REASON

#

Now don’t get me wrong, there were some terrible skins in Chapter 1 and some really good skins this season

#

Like Big Dill, The Cactus fella, Cate Meowdy, NITE unit Sniper, Robo Fishstick, Robotomatohead, and Bad Kit

#

Now where did this all start

#

Well, in my personal opinion, it was when Fortnite began focusing more on collabs once they began appearing more and more during Chapter 2

#

Most collabs would seem out of place so Fortnite had to change their graphics and overall aesthetic to fit the collabs in

#

But the thing is
They didn’t have to do that

#

They could’ve easily done the collabs in the Fortnite art style, similar to Thanos or Star-Lord

#

This is Farmer Steel, a skin from Chapter 2 Season 2, and Jett, a skin from Chapter 2 Season 8

#

You can see in early C2 a lot of skins (Not just Steel) had a bit of dirt on them still, but their flair was beginning to fade

#

Heh, fade

#

Anyway, as you can see in late C2, the skins had lost all their dirt and scratches and grime and logos and the like

#

Also, when I was looking for skins from c2s8, it was incredibly hard to find a skin that wasn’t a collab or a reskin or a bp skin

#

And ever since then, original skins have slowly been losing all their sauce while collabs keep looking great

#

Although, sometimes Epic will cook up something straight out of c1, like this henchman here

#

He’s cool
I like him

#

Now let’s look at the actual models that these skins are based from

#

Throughout Fortnite’s early days, these five models were used in STW and BR

#

There was also a fat feminine model but that’s not in this image for some reason

#

Now the one in the middle and the one on the far left were used for almost all the Chapter 1 skins with a few exceptions

#

Look at the forearms

#

Notice how they’re pronounced and angular

#

Look at the head

#

The faces are also pronounced and angular

#

Now scroll back up to Karl Keyes

#

His features are less pronounced and more realistic, if you can call it that

First off, what is a sweat?

A naive child who has been told by content creators that sweaty=good skin and meme skin=bad and wears an all black superhero skin hoping it makes them good at the game but they actually suck

They are very easy to kill but why are they considered annoying

It’s one of those community events again where we all have to work together with the power of friendship or whatever the fuck which I think is cute but getting rid of reload blitz and og into the bb is fixed makes me annoyed bc I’m a reload fiend and me and my best friend’s routine is call each other in the morning and play reload duos or squad fills until the afternoon

I got to try the two gauntlet/gloves weapons the ice King one is better

the seven power gloves are like the nitro fist but very Nerf you can only do four actions before it has to recharge and it only has 20 charges

While the ice king gauntlets have I think 200 or 100 ammo since they shoot projectile at cause a small explosion whenever they hit, with one big attack that makes a blizzard where you shot it with a 15 to 20 second cool down until you can fire another one

My general thoughts on currency season before it ends in a week are kind of mixed mostly because I’ve been getting awful matchmaking of just been put again some most sweaty players imaginable or people using exploits and/or cheats

I gotta say this season has been all right mostly hate most changes around the overwatch update because they removed the unique weapons for rival tokens shop, and that rift events just became another opportunity to get overwatch chests for some reason
