#Making connections to a board

Hello,

This is my solution for getting to grips with Mobiflight and trying it out with the FENIX A320. I used two Nanos, some input/output shift registers, LEDs, buttons, potentiometers, and encoders. As expected, I've encountered some difficulties, including intermittent connections. This solution is now reaching its limits. I want to take the next step and implement LED displays.

It's not going to be a cockpit. 🙂

I realize that this isn't feasible with the Nanos. I'll need to get Mega 2560 Pro Minis. I've read that there are often problems with the CH340G chip. My first question is, is this still the case, or has it improved?

My second question arises from the design of the Mega 2650 Pro Mini. What's the best way to organize the many cable connections? Is soldering the preferred method, or are there boards that allow for screw connections?

I like the KAV displays. However, I can only find rather old information/videos regarding installation. How compatible are these displays with the latest version of Mobiflight? Are there any problems to be expected?

Screw terminal hats do exist, however low quality ones can cause flashing issues

I know that site. The picture in the shop shows a Mega with pin headers. How do I connect cables to it? Do I use patch cables or are there connectors? I'm not keen on soldering directly to the pins. You could also make something like the one in the photo, but the contact reliability isn't very high. Or is it possible to order the Mega without pin headers?

People typically use high quality DuPont cables

The page I sent was specifically about your ch340 question

I'm not aware of any vendor that ships with the pin headers pre soldered. Too much labor 😂

Okay, that answers my first two questions. The question about the KAV advertisements remains.

Yeah I'm not too familiar with the display, but I believe it all still works fine. @patent jay can confirm
