#Issues with ghosting on mega2560 pro micro

Good day!
I'm using an atmega2560 clone to run a some switches buttons and a pot. I am getting a lot of ghosting, either two of the switches triggering together as only one of them gets physically moved. Anyone have any rips?

would I need more solder then?

I checked that the pins aren't shorting through each other

any time someone posts about ghosted buttons, it's bad solder connections. the doc I linked above shows what good solder joints look like.

I assume it is always the same other buttons getting triggered when you flip one, so look at that connection to see what's up.

yeah going to different pins seems to solve it, but doing it as a trial and error thing seems annoying

you need to look at your solder joints, preferably under some sort of magnification, to look for bridges

I'll take a look thanks!

Yes, I agree with Neil, the most likely way two switches trigger at the same time, barring a short circuit inside your microcontroller, it is for solder bridges to be accidently made between two mega board pins or between adjacent pins in a circuit board. Use a multimeter to test for no continuity between the mega board pins, there should be none.

could it be that i'm shorting through flux residue?

It's gonna be solder, this comes up often here and it's solder every time.

As Jaime suggested, use a multimeter and test the suspect pins. You shouldn't have any continuity between them. If you do, you know there's a bridge/short somewhere between those two pins

Okay will git it a look!

So after testing the pin for possible shorts to the adjacent pins the board isn't recognized by mobiflight anymore, just says compatible and the firmware update doesn't work

guess my multimeter charged the board the wrong way

but I think the post can be closed, thanks for the help!

What about the possible solder bridges?

I didn't find any, but changing the pins that I used on the mega solved the ghosting. I'll try to see what I can do with my next boards. Will keep you updated!
