Devices Disconnecting

I am having this recurring problem where an assigned and working device/axis stops communicating or disconnects from Mobiflight. I believe I previously made a post asking this same question but was unable to find it.

As the screenshot shows with the crossed out Axis X & Y, communication appears to be lost with the device. It is a working device and communication is lost while I am in flight using the controls, suddenly leaving me without working inputs. Any ideas on what I can do to stop this from happening?

I have ordered a powered USB hub to see if that helps with the issue.

Is this arduino based running Mobiflight firmware?

I would suspect it is not.

Is there any pattern to how or when it fails?

That was going to be my guess. Boards randomly disappearing are often because the power draw is too much for the PC USB port and it gets disconnected.

Do you hear the Windows USB disconnect sound?

I don't hear the disconnect sound. The USB hub just got delivered this morning so I will have the opportunity to test it out this afternoon.

The device I am having an issue with is a Thrustmaster T16000 joystick. My set up uses the joystick, 3 Arduinos (Uno x 2 and Mega). The picture doesn't show the switch box using the Arduino Mega.

The behavior seems to be caused by your joystick disconnecting from Windows. Although Windows is able to reconnect after a joystick gets disconnected, Mobiflight cannot regain connection from HID joysticks, requiring a restart.

Dang it. Well, good to know. I guess I will have to go back to configuring the HID devices through the MSFS controls menu and Spad.

finding the cause for your joystick disconnection seems a better option, no?

did you by any chance rewire the potentiometers in the joystick?

the T16000 has hall sensors, only the rudder twist axis is crappy and often has noise all over the place, but the stick itself should be rock solid and good.

if you run the usb and game controllers control panel tool, do you get the axis movement there also when this problem happens, or does it have problems also there?

The T16000's twist axis is completely disconnected. I removed the potentiometer completely when I did the extension.

I will test it out with the control panel tool when I have an opportunity. Last night I disabled both axis' in Mobiflight and configured them through the MSFS controls menu and was able to do about an hour flight without any issues.

This looks to be the main issue, the inability for Mobiflight to reconnect. I tried the powered usb hub and the controller still disconnected but it was a longer interval before it occurred. I haven't been able to reproduce the issue with the controller axes when they are configured through the MSFS controls menu so that is where I will leave them for now.

TBH it is not normal that joysticks simply disconnect and reconnect from Windows. There are plans to implement live reconnection of HID joysticks but that will come in the future. No time frame.

yeah, mobiflight does not reconnect joysticks on the fly currently

so if you get an unstable usb connection, it likely will not work
