#External 5V power supply

Having strange behaviour with some Max7219 tubes, I'm going to buy an external 5v ps. Any suggestions about model I've to buy? Which type do you use?

Thanks, I was going in that direction, since I have 2 or 3 free at home. I wa thinking to cut the Usb B terminal and take the red and black wires to a prototype board, soldering them on it. Than start with single +5V wire to my two Max7219. Is this a right solution? the GND from power supply to Mega 2560, right?

just make sure all the grounds are tied together

but run two separate +5V wires to the max chips. You want a dedicated wire running from the power supply to each max, don't daisy chain them
