The Max7219 Digit PCB System comes with
- WHITE 7-segment digits,
- the PCB
- all required connectors, and
- a flat ribbon cable (50cm)
The digits are plugged into the PCB sockets. Combinations of 3-digit & 2-digit are grouped together to make up the combinations from 3-6 digits:
3-digit PCB - 1 x 3-digit module
4-digit PCB - 2 x 2-digit mo...
Currently have these if anyone could help me with rewiring them (simple tutorial to get me started)
The digits seem to be mounted on a different board than the max7219 board you are showing.
You should confirm they are common cathode. Only those will work.
There are many sources in internet showing how max7219 should be wired. You of course also need to know the pinout for your digits.
By the way, the max board you showed is actually for driving a Led matrix, not really for digits, although it will work.
I gotcha. Looks way to complicated anyway. I like the simplicity of the ones they recommend just hate that red color

One more question before I purchase. Don’t mean to be a pain in the _ . These will work directly with my mega 2560 or will I need the breakout board also?
The breakout board just makes it easier to connect to your arduino. If you have another method of connecting between the pins you can use that instead.
Ok. So tell me if I have this correct.
I would need (2) 3-digits….. hdg & spd
And (2) 5-digits …… altd and vs
So I would have to wire each one I’m assuming with the normal 5v,G,Din,CS,CLK?
And can they be daisy chained?
Or could I get the breakout system with everything pre wired where it just needs to be plugged into arduino
They can be daisy chained. You daisy chain Din/Dout, CS, CLK and provide separate 5V to each board
