Hi guys I’m currently in the early stages of my A320 Overhead but I’m a bit stuck on the 3 position selector knobs.
I can’t seem to find any encoder type things that have 3 positions and go to the correct position (just at the top)
What did you guys do for this? I was thinking I could somehow make a rotary encoder do it but I’m not sure about it.

Where is that picture from? The knob turning travel seems much more limited than other pictures I have seen for the real A320 overhead. The knob you indicated moves in 30 degrees steps, but IRL it moves 45 degrees steps. Similarly, the knobs above it, show a scale of 180 degrees and the real A320 shows 270 degrees movement.

All of the real overhead panel pictures will have that knob with 45 degrees steps
the thing is you can buy rotary switches with 30 or 45 degrees steps
the correct one for this application is the 45 degrees steps. Not the one you showed.
I am just making sure you are aware that there is a difference

are there RS16 with 45degrrees or just 30? I know that the bigger brothers - RS26 are 45degrees

the 12 position ones are 30 degrees and the 8 position rotary switches are 45 degrees

RS16 is always 45 degrees as far as I know
its the 8 position smaller rotary switch. It seems only available from places like aliexpress, it is likely a cheap clone for a more expensive switch but I have not yet been able to find a "brand name" equivalent that has an actual part number
RS26 is a clone of the C&K and many other manufacturers 12 position rotary - they usually have adjustable number of steps.
The RS16 is always fixed number of steps, you can get from 3 to 8

I think the 12 position plastic rotaries are adjustable
there are tons of this type, cloned and C&K brand and others
that rightmost metal ring with the little tab
you insert it to the slot on that inner ring on the black part
and it limits how many notches the switch moves
it is held down by the washer and nut
