Nah. It is an event, not an "event".

Playing pedantic with etymology is such a bad take when there are much more important things to worry about in this community. This is a fantastic event and I advise that all of us stop looking into the gift horse's mouth or we may just lose opportunities like this in the future. A little bit of gratitude both ways does nothing but good for overall sentiment.

Besides, we came off of what, three back-to-back Sardinex events w/ currency? Pre-zone, Anniversary, Halloween?

Kind of undercuts the "I've been saving resources specifically for this and I'm disappointed" angle.

Riddle me this Batman, how exactly did Kongregate mislead us?

Can you please link to me a piece of promotional material, perhaps an email newsletter, a discord announcement, or an in-game note that said Sardinex would be showing up and/or for us to be expecting free resources?

Or is this a case of "all events in the past have had Sardinex" sort of thing? What about the Speedrun Event (#announcements-bhq message) ? What about the Bit Boost Event (#announcements-bhq message) ? The x5 Mythic Drop Event (#announcements-bhq message) ?

And regarding general player outcry...if we are being honest here, that's their own fault for having preconceived grandiose ideas, in my opinion at least. When last week's teaser went up with the cosmetic shadows there were even people perpetuating the idea of a new Earth world boss launching, so I feel no sympathy for people that entertain the "bait and switch, we mad" take on this situation. I'm all for drawing attention to legitimate concerns and bad business practices but this is a fun event that they didn't even need to do for us and I'm grateful for the opportunity to partake. Always wanting more is such a destructive mindset and I wouldn't be surprised if player conduct like this led to Bitversary 2024 being skipped.

We are starting to get off topic with this take, but our community likes to make mountains out of molehills and blame Kongregate for everything when perhaps we need to do a little self reflection and admit we are part of the problem for once.

The point is lots of players jumped to the conclusion based on past events that there was going to be a sardinex with this event. That's on those players for jumping to the conclusion, myself included. This feedback is about how Kong can improve next time to set expectations so players are less likely to make incorrect assumptions and therefore have a happier player base. Win win.

Even if it was the peoples fault for having these expectations by making assumptions (which it was) doesnt mean that people didnt end up being disappointed. So if Kong can change something to make sure people arnt disappointed then thats a win for everyone no?

I think I'm going to respectfully agree to disagree that what you're doing here is helping, but that's okay! It's appropriate to express our thoughts and feelings here as players since this feedback thread is regarding the event. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I hope Kongregate will find value in the alternative points of view.

Discourse is healthy in communities at this scale but it's important to remember that the 1-200 people here are but a blip in the DAU and form a small fraction of the playerbase, from an even smaller subset of guilds. Characterizing my perspective as the minority isn't a fair assumption to make and is a bit of a reach when we look at things from a broader view. It's easy to get lost amongst the sea of negativity when certain pockets of our community dedicate their energy to actively fighting every decision Kongregate makes -- some justified, but often unproportionate and outlandish. With that said though, I personally found no fault in the marketing and implementation of this event and I hope Kongregate feels inclined to continue them in the future instead of becoming more jaded and reserved.

These are volatile times and a little more positivity helps keep the candle burning. 🙂

I’d be hesitant to call it majority. It’s not an insignificant number but less than 10 have actually said something so you could say up to 100 players feel this way, out of thousands. Not accounting for players that don’t know/care though.

Personally? I’m happy there’s no Sardinex this time. Sardinex is great but we’ve had a Sardinex event going on what seems like every other week for months. I’m happy to have a break where I can breathe for a minute instead of feeling obligated to grind

I’ve seen less than 10 players in the server say they are disappointed, they’ve said it a lot but from what I’ve seen it’s been the same people. Even if that was doubled and we kept the 1:10 ratio of non vocal agreement it’s still not majority which is what the beginning of my post was focused at
