Why is the StarBeat skin changing even after we bought something different?

Pretty sure there was a bit of backlash as to how those skins looked when they got released and the devs agreed, and agreed to change them. I think that's all this is about.

The boxes were like 100 AUR per key.

My original message got deleted because of the attachments, kinda wasted my time, but how is it okay to sell someone say, a Purple Gemstone skin, then change it to purple eggplants 🍆

I don’t understand why I should be cool with the new skin I didn’t pay for, with 0 compensation or reimbursement.

• I saw no discussion on the skins or had no say on it, even though I spent hundreds of AUR for the keys to get the skins I no longer want

I guess if there had been a lot of folk defending the art work at the time, they may have decided to leave as is, but in this case I think it was just reacting to a fair amount of backlash.

I guess if you don't like the look of the changed skin, then in this instance you'll be disappointed, and that's unfortunate.

I opened some tickets and they basically said “sorry we can’t please everyone” but I was fine with the skins, I think they are the best skins in the game… now? Not so much. It’s just a weak Neon Rain skin

I hear you. I guess the best thing they could have done is have the nano skin as the new design, but also have the old design as a skin you could apply to the nanocore to override it, and give those skins out free to those who purchased originally.

Which is what I thought was going to happen because players that wanted the nanocore but didn’t like the skin would be disappointed and I get that! Totally change the nanocore fixed skin… but they are deleted the original completely

I guess you could put in a suggestion in #suggestions if you haven't already (I realise you've already spoken to support).

They already have the artwork and asset and could release this as a skin to purchase for anyone that didn't buy them originally but wants that original design.

I don't necessarily think they'll do it, but sadly I think this is all you can do at this stage.

The first version looked fine on caps and orca but sub caps had contrast issues. I don't mind either of the versions. The new one is not too bad to lose sleep over it...

Compensating the hundreds of AUR we spent? Was it that tiny compensation mail that passed as a server maintenance mail? Thats disheartening.

I still don’t think changing it would’ve affected the game. I don’t see how someone else’s dollar is worth more than mine if I bought the skins because I liked them and wanted to support the game. Even if I am the minority, it’s a SKIN with no effect to gameplay and we pay the same amount for it. I don’t see why they couldn’t go about this another way. I still hope they compensate me for the AUR I spent for these skins.

In my opinion it’s shady practice, selling a cosmetic to people then changing it without any equal compensation may not be a big deal to some but… it is to me

When it's lit up it looks fine but in low light under shadows it is very weird unfortunately.

It's like a few planes on the ship have a glowy sticker that doesn't blend well with the rest of the surface when not extremely well lit up.

Their stance is the skin was made wrong, with issues, so they redone it. Fixed it, if you will, like any other "bug".

And they apologise in the message you linked above.

I don't think they done a great job in anything (old skin, new skin, communication, compensation). But it ends there, there's nothing you can do and it's not the greatest deal to be losing sleep over.

Like lit up in station it looks good. But once you aren't under direct light and there are shadows it kinda looks bad

I've never tried to get compensation from Google / Apple before, but this could well be the sort of thing you might be able to get a refund on. It doesn't change the skin obviously, but you might be able to get some of your cash back.

Most of us throw a lot cash at the game, for me this is one of those things that really mess me up

The most they should’ve done is made the skin the same pattern but had it blend in more, lowered the light, smoothed the edges etc. not change the whole effect. The effects are the REASON I bought it. Now, with this update there is no reason I want it.

How? I used to be a producer at a mobile gaming studio. I don't recall Apple or Google snitching on players telling us exactly who got compensation and for what.

We could track the compensation metrics as in, see how much money was going out / not coming in due to compensation, but we could not link that to players as I recall.

I would just be surprised that Apple / Google would link specific refunds to specific players. The way refunds work for Apple / Google is they still keep their 30% so I can't see why they would care so much

The refund always comes out of the developers 70% share

I imagine if you tried to get compensation directly from Netease, that could have consequences on your account, but yeah I would be hugely surprised if they got back to Netease from a Google / Apple refund.

I haven't worked in the industry for a few years now so I don't know if anything has changed in that regard, but again, I would be incredibly surprised.

Yeah, they know the money get's taken back, but from what I understood from the coder that did the monetisation and store code, the money comes in periodically, so if we both purchased things at roughly the same time, our money would be delivered together - an amount from the compensation.

I think that used to be quite a problem back when Apple would give refunds very easily. From what I understand they have tightened up on refunds a lot and only refund on very specific things.
