#Office Rent Pricing
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
My understanding is that the more popular a location is, the higher the rent prices.
The new content probably brought back quite a bit of activity to Jita to sell the new items, and to play market games on the rarer items / materials.
I had heard the same. But I was looking for confirmation.
Also heard a rumor that the older the office the lower the prices. Also thoughts of m3 stored having an impact.
Any way to get the actual equation used to determine the cost?
Also strange that as the game's player/corp. count has dropped the prices have continued to go up.
I don't know about the prices going down, unless it's just less popular stations adjusting accordingly.
If m³ had an impact, my corp would have been bankrupt. As well as any corp with a substantial buyback. I don't think that has an effect on it.
I don't know the equation, and I haven't gotten enough data to give a proper sample size.
I agree, prices should go down if it's based on popularity. However a TONNE of new content released, and limited release ships in boxes, new materials... etc. This made a lot of opportunities for corps to play market games on new materials and such. This would likely result in more null-only corp returning a market presence to Jita.
I went back 9 months with prices increasing over that whole time other than a dip here and there. So I doubt it has anything to do with new content. And again with the player base dropping, if based only on offices rented, this price would be going down.
Is there anyway to contact a dev. and pose the question to them?
No reason that the pricing for office rental should be a secret
I just want to know to see if thre is anything that can be managed by a corp to bring the price down. Its getting to be around 400m isk/mo. for a Jita office.
If its just the devs raising the price to increase the ISK sink in the game or to push people to other ITC's, then that is something else to consider.
It just should not be a secret.
I always thought that is was an open secret that the devs manipulate the market, hence why it's in disarray & industry is dead. I won't say outright for fear of being accused of something I'm not, but look at where the devs are based & then look into that place & you'll see brutal censorship & control. The players have never controlled the market in this game.
I have tinfoil-hat theories myself. Just looking to see if there is a logic to it that a Dev can tell us definitively. My theory has more to do with lazy/poor coding/game management than anything nefarious.
Can anyone pass this thread to a dev. that they have contact with that might be able to answer the initial question?
I'll look into it. I'll ask other mods and see if they've heard anything and go from there.
Very grateful.
Any update on this? been a few weeks
It's based on the number of corps also renting offices at that location.
Haven't seen a formula for this, but the effects are visible in areas of low sec bordering null.
I am just curious though how the number keeps going up if the player base keeps going down.
It seems as though there is no purge mechanism for corps that don't have the ISK to make the payments. Meaning that unless a corp. actually, intentionally closes an office that the number stays the same even if they no longer pay rent.
To me it seems like we have to pay for all the squatters that have offices there, but no longer pay rent.
Sorry, got busy with work and honestly forgot about this. I'll try to get an answer, but please don't get your hopes up.
You could try submitting it in the dev Q&A as well? I'm sure they'd rather answer this than some other questions.
Developer Weekly Q & A
It's based on offices rented, not on players using the system. If I make a corp on every alt and rent it will go up.
The mechanism exists.
If a corp can't afford a hangar, the hangar closes and all of the loot in it moves to the CEOs inventory.
Keep in mind the corp mgmt UI makes it very easy for corps to lose track of where they have offices.
Fair enough. Still seems strange though that as there are fewer and fewer players and corps. The rent keeps going up is all.
