I swear this is something I reported here a while back, but I guess Discord purged the post for inactivity? Anyway, it was an issue for a few updates, and unfortunately still is an issue in 1.0 - some custom songs sound distorted, as if they were overboosted or something. its dependent on what audio the charter uses to make the custom

I wonder what exactly is it though. I remember trying to figure it out myself by comparing audio files of this song vs a good sounding one, I don't think I got anything.

yeah my first charts where just youtube rips + boosted with audacity

I don't really know much about the editor, I don't chart maps tbh
I do know this problem isn't caused by the poor quality of the audio file though. It is a youtube rip but in-game it still sounds much worse than it should

I have noticed that the volume levels are all over the place with customs vs the game content

Oh yea I noticed that too, especially annoying since the game doesn't have an easy way to adjust the volume as osu does
