Another year, another release at the worlds biggest demoparty Revision. See it in all the glory! https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=96605 You have download links and a youtube video from the stream with the timestamp on this website. The production was developed basically solely on linux, and we cross compiled it to windows and that was the version handed in. If you want to download, there are both windows and linux version of the exe inside. It was fun, sometimes in the near future, we might release the sources to it 🙂 Enjoy!

i was watching revision and the description caught me off guard 😭

#

it's really cool that zig is being used for stuff like this!

Amazing work! I loved last year's demo too ^-^

Can't wait to see what you do next year :)

zig should get much more attention in my opinion. Rust is for example very well represented in the demoscene, but unfortunately zig, its just @void holly @hazy leaf @tough ingot @thin knoll and myself so far. Guys @hazy leaf and @void holly hint hint we don’t want to be the only ones releasing demos 😛

i've been actually thinking of making a demo in zig recently, but i have never made a complete demo other than simple toy projects so it's a bit scary

vernal turtle
#

just start hammering on something and eventually you get there. Or start from scratch and do it all in a month like we did 😄

I've never done a demo, but i've been eyeballing it for like... 5 years now?
Well, i can't really graphics, some day tho... some day....

void holly
#

just be creative! you dont even have to use any 3d modeller, just code and procgen

vernal turtle
#

though I think personally procgen is easier done through blender. If anyone wants I think we could help them set up with doing demos in zig

Though kudos to them for quick fact checking, by the end of the demo they had figured out who Andrew is and informed the viewers

vernal turtle
#

yeah, to be fair, we did a shit job of stating it was made possible by Zig

#

oh btw fun fact I nearly forgot it totally uses @void holly s opengl wrappers @honest lake / @vernal grove zig gamedev which was gutted pretty much for our usage. Thanks a ton for your work ❤️

Do you have a list of packages used? For example for the audio playback?

vernal turtle
#

zaudio

#

zglfw, ztracy, zstbi

vernal turtle
#

we are not using zphysics (though we really wanted, but had no time to do physics based stuff), zpool (after all, we didn't need it) @hazy leaf

there is nothing in this thread that would explain what this actually is

#

did you just render an image?

trail dirge
#

It's rendered in real time, using Vulkan I believe :)

#

Or maybe OpenGL according to some messages in this thread? I thought last year's one was Vulkan but maybe that's changed

crystal moon
#

that's cool
