Welcome to our community discussion thread dedicated to Kemeticism and Kemetic practices!
gāmorning, new and improved kemetic chat! dua netjeru :]
https://youtu.be/jY1vU0Awal8
found this video thats kinda cool, if someone wanted an asmr of some of the myths!
In this soft spoken ASMR video, I tell you stories from Egyptian Mythology and explanations about their context and meaning.
We will meet all sorts of gods and creatures: Osiris, Isis, Ra, Horus, Atum, Shu, Geb, Amun and the other gods from the Ogdoad, Ptah, Sekhmet, Hathor, Bastet, Anubis, Nephtys and many more...
Credits: script and narratio...
(theres other mythologies he does i think)
Hello revived Kemetic chat š
kankri: hello!!
I have so many opinions (some /upg some /vg) on Setās interpretations and I just need to talk about them lol (as someone who works with set and Anubis)
feel free to share! i dont work with the pantheon but its interesting to hear about!
I will be back soon I got to do something first
Ok i am back
Set is such a complex and interesting deity and Twisted Rope has a great post on him but hereās kinda a mix of unverified personal gnosis (/upg), verified gnosis (/vg), and historical gnosis (/hg). Iāll only use the latter if im like, 110% confident
Historically, Set was the king of upper egypt (the desert and such) and had some centers of worship. Accounts vary but after Egypt was unified under the pharaoh, his name and image were taken down and he was replaced with his nephew, Horus
/hg
ooo
The most common story that everyone knows about kemeticism involved Set || dismembering|| (tw violence) Osiris, and Isis recovering his parts and putting him back together with the help of Anubis and Nephtys (i always spell her name wrong, sheās setās wife)
Horus then takes over as the original Pharaoh and has a bunch of various battles with Set. Isis often intervenes on her sonās behalf and Thoth is usually the moderator/judge in the battles
/hg
HOWEVER then things get complicated very quickly
Kemeticism is old. Like, really really really old
And there are a ton of conflicting stories about various deities
Set sometimes is the protector of Ra (or former protector who got kicked out for being too cocky) who joined him on the solar barque and fought against ap/ep
Other times heās joined forces with ap/ep which
(upg starts here) I donāt personally think is possible, as ap/ep (to kemetics in general) is form/variation of isft/isfet (which cannot be worshipped if you consider yourself kemetic, as it is quite literally the antithesis to maāat, the foundation of kemeticism /vg)
Heās a trickster and chaos god, which means yes he does dumb stuff, but heās not evil /hg
Actually in kemeticism in general, the gods all do dumb stuff
/hg
Kemeticism is weird to some I think
Like threatening and cursing the gods was a historical thing?
And itās sometimes recommended if thereās a kemetic deity who wonāt leave you alone (coughs Set) /vg
Reading about that was super fascinating because like it sounds super dangerous but itās more like
Iām watching videos about isis and learning so much bout her
Well it is dangerous and not recommended for non-experienced (and I mean VERY experienced) practitioners
/vg (via Twistedrope)
This!
OH I THOUGHT YOU WERE SAYING HALF GEN AND VERY GEN š
Verified means a modern thing which may have had an ancient source, while historical means it did happen in antiquity
Youāre good LMAO
Anyway kemeticism weird but kinda neat
#1114060085224808468 message we have these which go over them a bit more (although hg isnt on there)
but i guess /cg could be that as well
Yeah
I used vg and hg separate in this because thereās a lot of verified gnosis that are commonly accepted and likely were in antiquity but thereās so much of kemeticism that is either lost or so old we just donāt know
Vs historical being very certain and confirmed
i think spg/svg could work for your verified gnosis ? shared personal or shared verified gnosis?
but i mean they work in this context since you explained them!
Yeah
Iām probably gonna come here more often cause Learning bout this is very cool
Also i did date check ancient Kemet predates ancient Greece but they did exist at the same time
Now I think bout while I do wanna make altar for isis I been thinking adding little cow plush or bird plush for her
There is a lot of fusion and fission of deities in ancient kemet so deities tend to have several conflicting stories fyi
Or a figure
oo that would be cute dot!
Ya!! Which I been finding all this funny for me cause all our lifeās we grew up loving birds (our childhood bird was lovebirds) and cows so I kinda find it funny she been mostly with us and calling for us in a way if that make sense?
Does two animals been popping up in our lifeās
https://thetwistedrope.tumblr.com/ (look up auset for the best results, itās her kemetic name and you wonāt get results on the group who shall not be named)
Thank you so much odd
(this absolutely needs to be a link in Kemetic resources, bc it is so so so so good for beginners)
you can totally drop it in submissions
Question what offerings do isis like instead of cows and birds
!!! Thank you! I didnāt even realize that was a thing ;-;
yeah of course!
Posted š«”
i just have so many thoughts on kemeticism that are gone with the old channel so I get to repost them >:)
Is there a thing in deity resources that isis likes as offering and things to do for her?
Uhhhh lemme see
we (staff) have access to the old channel but we do accept submissions as we just went through the pins! so if you have links or just general info that can totally be helpful!
Ya! Plus learning what offering she will like be helpful
i dont think we have one!
I didnāt see anything in particular on twisted ropeās tumblr but if youāre willing to scroll through some super dense stuff
I havenāt scrolled all the way through but Iāve used this resource in the past for other deities
Iād probably generally be aware in case they mention anything surrounding ||pregnancy||, bc Auset is a mother god
ah yeah we have thoth but not isis
The more I learn bout her the more I realize she been with me all my life I just didnāt notice it
If that make sense?
FYI epithets are very common (/hg) to use when talking about kemetic deities
Oh yeah absolutely
I was the same way when I realized Anpu was calling me
i was legit about to link this as well
The website has been known to have questionable content (as in gore/violence mentions) so just be aware
Thatās why I wouldnāt post it as a resource but
Itās still a good one
Cause when you point out bout ||Pregnancy|| as a kid and now I can immediately point out some is ||pregnant|| without knowing they soon gonna become one
I find It freaky
Iām planning to study bio archaeology so it makes sense now why he chose me
Yeah!
Youāll realize more and more stuff as time goes on
Itāll be fun I promise
Kemeticism is a weird religion but thereās so much to learn and so many paths to take
What kind of paths does it have?
But yeah my recommendations for what to do next:
My format for prayer goes somewhat like this (i filled in Auset for you, itās Isisās kemetic name)
Dua Auset,
List a few epithets
Thank you for
Ask for
End with a few epithets
Dua Auset
If you want to do more deity work, work with writing, physical spell work, all types of stuff
I mean itās kinda the same as others but thereās a lot of spells from antiquity you can research
(Also Dua Auset means roughly āPraise/Hail Ausetā)
How you pronounce her other name auset? Idk if she mind also isis
Aw-set i believe
aw (like awwwww) set (like to set something down)
It sounds like saying all set
Kinda!
Do Etsy have good shops when buying kemetic items?
Etsy is pretty good BUT thereās also some mini statues you can get off Amazon for 10-15$ that are great if you arenāt ready to commit to somethingās expensive
Ya I'm not looking for something expensive I may make semi big altar for her if I get space
Also weegyptians are super cute
That one isnāt too bad Iāve bought stuff from that company before
Itās not the most detailed but itās survived like five moves
I'mma save it for my next paycheck for her
Anyway, if you have any questions the Kemetic channel is here and Iām usually lurking lol
Iāve been doing this stuff for almost four years at this point
Bet!! Im always down to ask questions bout but rn I feel like my energy been wasted so I'm like pasting out
I found a YouTube video of how to set offers for isis for example
How to work with Isis can be frustrating for beginners. Deities for beginners and working with deities in general can be a hard task, but this video will show that it is actually surprisingly easy to make deity work a piece of cake! Isis mythology goes a long way. Isis Egyptian background is definitely an interesting one especially since she has...
kankri: woahhh kemetic chat was active tonight!!
YEAH! Itās super exciting!!!
Question
Would it be divination act if I draw isis
(Cause all pictures I seen of her she is white ā¹ļø)
it could be! i know a lot of people use art as a form of divination
DEVOTION
not divination š
but yeah you can use art !
sick to see kemeticism being appreciated lmfao
I Finish drawing isis
wow
you really ate that
should print that out and put it on your altar fr
I should
OOO if you have a digital altar you can also put it there!
ITS SO PRETTY
oh my gods thatās GORGEOUS!!!
that is just wonderful, amazing!!!
in shock rn
stuffās just a trillion times better when itās for the gods what can i say
YES
Also I love your profile!!! Itās a vibe!!!
ahh thanks!
THANKS GUYS
That's the plan since I got have money to make isis a altar for her but Idk where to make a altar for her
you could use Pinterest! or Tumblr I also have notion that I use for a digital altar of sorts
Oooh how do notion work?
I know one my partners did one for bastet on Tumblr but idk how to do it
hm notion is a LITTLE bit confusing if you aren't used to it but for Tumblr you would just need to make an account and then start posting and rebloging things you feel fit her or honor her
I think I can try out Tumblr I gotta ask my partner how he do it
For the other Kemetics here, Iām just curious, what deities do you worship or work with? (If you donāt mind sharing)
I personally work with Set more but I do some work with Anubis too and have dedicated altars to them both
rn just ancestors but my dad has altars and does offerings for multiple deities and our ancestors
he also has a tik tok where he talks about it lol
Dude thatās really cool!!!
the heathenry section is so dead we need some of this enthusiasm š«š«
i mainly worship and work with lady (bastt)|, but i do interact with (mainly work with, but i do worship them all as a whole) others!
What is epithets?
Epithets are different aspects/faces of the same god/deity that you call upon with names.
So like for example Aphrodite has a BUNCH of epithets. There is Aphrodite Urania who is The Heavenly One which could be called upon if you need her more heavenly side. BUT there is also Aphrodite Areia who is Of Ares, Warlike. This epithet could be called upon if you want the more warlike aspect of the goddess.
They are both Aphrodite but they just have different aspects!
I recently got AC origins and its beautiful and im wondering if it has good info similar to valhalla?
Interesting
Hey guys
Question; has anyone here worshipped sobek?
I have not!
I bought a copy of Budgeās book of the dead
Iāve been reading it in my free time š
I think it was time for a new charm bag š
ooooo
It faded so bad and my local store doesnāt stock them anymore but I happened to be out of town and spotted them in a shop
ahh thats such good luck!
^ makiing wep renepet plans!! iin liieu of a pot, ii wiill be smashiing a piiggy bank that ii heaviily associiate wiith a person iin my liife who iiād very much liike out!! ļ½
^ ii wiish iit werenāt so cute, though š š ļ½
I everyone Iām sorry for bothering. But can someone tell me some good sources to search kemetic gods/goddesses better? Specially ISIs and Bastet? (Pardon me if any nomenclature is wrong!)
I would check #1114060729809653770
Thank you very much! I wish you a great day/night!
I got like six books on ancient Egypt for $20!!!
kankri: wow, what a steal!!!
Back once again to absolutely nerd out that the Tutenkhamun exhibit is coming to a city thatās not too far away from me and Iām so excited
Unfortunately a lot of it is replicas but I still am super excited
Are yāall celebrating Wep Ronpet? If so, when??
Iām going to celebrate mine in accordance with my college town, since the day I move in will be Wep Ronpet there
Which means Sunday starts the Epag. Days
I donāt have a colored printer this year so Iām printing out coloring sheets of the 5 and coloring them
Plus an extra fancy sheet for Set since he is one of the deities I have dedicated altar space for and I worship more extensively
oracle: ima celebrate on august 15
oracle: forgot to clarify thatās the day-of in my area
oracle: thatās actually a super good idea!! i havenāt really gotten around to planning what iāll do for the 5 days so i might actually do that!!!
Dang it I forgot to buy a terracotta pot for Wep Ronpet!
q: iām gonna smash a piggy bank
I forgot how much I hate dates
Hereās some coloring sheets I printed if anyone wants them š
haha, i was just saving some!!!
Day two complete š Iām really excited for tomorrow
woo!!!
Tomorrow is Setās birthday and heās a deity I work with so Iām going above and beyond š
Also starting my excretion pot! Painting it red and letting it dry
awesome!!! the days upon the year havenāt started yet per my calendar but iām still super excited
tomorrowās mesut-(usir)| here!! iām so excited!!!
Thatās neat!!!
All five days completed! Now theyāre sitting in the windowsill to get some rising sun and then off to college I go!
I did little coloring sheets for each of the five (Osiris, Horus the elder, Set, Isis, and Nephyths) and they turned out so cute
Left some offerings for each and crystals I associated with them
ahhh congrats! I hope you had a great celebration
Oh yeah Iām also smashing a pot so if anyone wants to get rid of anything for the upcoming year let me know and I can write it on the pot!
(Itās to symbolize the defeat of Ap/ep which Set is very excited about plus itās smashing things)
thatās awesome!!
cb: todayās mesut-(setekh)| here. iād never met (setekh)| until now. i must say, he has nice vibes
he seems cool
He is very nice š
I bought him a new candle today and Iām working on a statue
whats kemtecisim?
Egyptian worship and practices!
im just now seeing this andddd- I LOVE IT!!!
what tarot card(s) Amon/ Amun are associated with?
according to this site The Emperor
https://backyardbanshee.com/tarot/deities-associated-with-tarot-cards/
thanks you
Question, does Bastet have crystals/stones associated with her?
According to crystal-life:
Black Tourmaline
Tigers Eye
Morganite
From terravara:
Black tourmaline
Tigers eye
Citrine
Alabaster
Sunstone
Broom Closet on WordPress:
Fire Agate
Pyrite
Sun stone
Agate
Jasper
Lapis Lazuli
A Reddit post i unfortunately didn't save:
Black tourmaline
Tigers eye
Sunstone
Ruby
Quartz
Personally I've only had tigers eye and a piece of sunstone
np I've spent so much hyperfixation time on Bast

Pretty sure i have a raw hunk of black Tourmaline . I wanted to leave a stone associated with Bast, with the wee stature I have
Gonna comb through my dragon hoard collection
This also helps, tysm!
welcome blue!
she loves tiger eye
I have a bunch of that
fish can i add this to the deities resources?
Go for it! I can pull up the original links too since they have all sorts of information (plus for other dieites)
ooo nice! ill put these in a bastet list and if you wanna shove the og links in #šsubmissions

Relooking through the links i actually found this little bit which i didn't know before! Honestly p intresting if you worship both Bast and Sekhmet (The Broom Closet; Bastet - Wordpress)
"Bast shares qualities of both Sekhmet and Het-hert in Her role as protector [...] However, at no time in the history of Kemetic religion were Sekhmet and Bast associated in a āsister-sisterā, āmother-daughterā, āaunt-nieceā. or ābig bad lioness/ nice kittyā context. The phrase, āShe rages as Sekhmet, She is pacified as Bast.ā is a fairly late (150 BCE) [...] implying the state of the theology previous to the Third Intermediate/ Late Period."
With siblinghood being so important (Take Isis and Nephthys or Set and Osiris) its a good note to have down that these 2 do not share that connection
It's made me think about redoing my altar idea, instead of giving them a larger shelf split in 2-- just having them on their own like many of the other non-couple pairings
oooo
Does anyone know anyway to āprayā to a kemetic deity?
just pray like you usually pray but give a offering as well
it is the worship and practice regarding Egyptian gods
oh I see that makes sense
really cool update on some egyptian history and a kemetic temple dedicated to isis!
It was a very cool discovery, I believe they've gone further into it and uncovered a bit more of the art along the walls
Several years ago of course I'm not sure if they still officially some back to the tomb
^^ archaeology is hella slow in egypt but it's absolutely amazing what they've uncovered so far
hello Kemeticism chat
I am working on filling out my grimoire and was wondering what y'all's favorite places to look for information (specifically deity offerings/rituals/etc) are
I am a BIG fan of the twisted Rope
ooo I've heard of that ( I think we have some stuff linked here too)
Yeah yeah! Also the Kemetic Round Table is a good resource, and TR is part of that! It's a whole bunch of topics various Kemetics discuss
bet will check out ty šŖ
they do have some 18+ content scattered throughout so just a heads up
Also the battles of Set and Horus (if you don't know already) include/mention ||sa|| so be aware of that
oh I did but ty for the reminder /gen
oooo
I'm working on the Set resourve now!
It's hard to not mention some things but I think my disclaimer at the top is good enough
I basically said that there's disturbing content which is not included in it, and that if the reader wants more info, it is at their own risk. V
super fair yeah
I can def send it to modmail in a bit
for sure! we can def look it over
if your unsure about things breaching the rules its probably best to DM modmail about it to avoid breaking rules by asking /gen /lh
š«” (/gen, not mean)
ehehehhe new set resource
yeah!! tysm for submitting!
you're welcome!
I was playing some videos in the background while working and one popped up on Anubis, and I heard this iconic line:
"[Movies] portray him as a power hungry villain when he is really the god of minding his own buisness."
Sorry,
But what is Kemeticism
broadly the religion of ancient egypt
Oh,
Okay
Thank you for answering my question
@candid marlin !
you're good! I still fluctuate in my own practice :)
I am egyptian, specifically Coptic
! that's really cool!
I tend to focus worship and work with two deities, Anubis and Set, but I've recently started to expand into a more pantheon-wide worship
Anubis has been in my practice since late 2019, and Set since mid-late 2022
it's really nice to have someone who is actually Egyptian here though because I feel like Kemeticism gets grouped with the Hellenistic practices a lot of the time when traditionally, it's not. It's its own thing
How did you go about "choosing" which deity to reach out to
haha i can read whats written in arabic
Anubis initially reached out to me, leaving a ton of signs. I reached out to Set for help dealing with the chaos of starting college, and he's been around ever since (after a couple of failed tried)
How did he reach out to you
I've seen a lot of ||roadkill|| lately, is that a sign? (genuinely wondering)
please be sure to spoiler ||animal death|| per our rules
and it might not be because depending on where you live heat can be a reason animals seek out highways and such for water
sorry how
sorry about that
thank you for fixing it
I live in southern Ontario, its not that hot rn
it could be hotter than normal /info
I honestly can't think of any who it would be off the top of my head. I know for Anubis, the signs were the number 9, lots of (different) black dogs and coyotes in my backyard, a calling to do work in cemeteries, and white feathers EVERYWHERE. Where i lived then, i didn't find white feathers often, and then suddenly I kept finding them everywhere
thats true
ahh thats really cool
He confirmed it was him audibly (the only time he's ever spoken), and i've since vetted with tarot card readings
that is genuinely so cool
Maybe one day, one of the many Kemetic Deities will reach out to me
True, and you can always build a relationship with them by politely reaching out to them
Im not sure how to reach out tbh. But I recently found a prayer for Khonsu and recited it and I believe I did the same for Thoth
I prayed, left offerings, and set up a small shrine
Mine is more reflective of a modern pagan shrine rather than a traditional egyptian one but I usually keep fresh water, a food offering, and a candle (because I can't handle the smell of most incense). An image is a good thing to have too
My image for Anubis for a LONG time was just a printed piece of paper with him on it
I've been looking at ways to make a small discreet altar as I am not comfortable with my family knowing.
like in an altoid tin (i think thats what they're called)
Yeah!
mini altars: #1114061823377952809 message
when you say you prayed, do you recite prayers found online or do you just have a conversation with the deities?
Additionally, something I've found is that the netjeru prefer if offerings aren't wasted, so offering a meal you're going to eat or a drink you're going to drink is TOTALLY ok!
oh thats awesome
Some of both! I usually find epithets online (basically other ways of referring to deities, by their attributes) and then make up the prayer
I will try and do that as well
so many deities to worship haha
Absolutely
And you definitely don't have to worship them all or worship one. You can make your practice whatever you like
I would definitely check out the Twisted Rope if you haven't already. They're a go-to resource for kemetic stuff!
we do have a bunch of their stuff linked in the resources channel
Like I resonate with Ma'at as I am always a rule follower. I also resonate with Thoth as I major in Comp-sci in uni. I also resonate with Khonsu because I always find myself staying up late, very late. Horus because I will be joining the Canadian Armed Forces.
I will say, take it slow and enjoy the process. There is no rush to get everything done. The netjeru will wait for you. They are ancient, powerful beings and a few days, weeks, months, or even years is not as big of a deal to them
The only deity who has ever been up my ass about time is Set, and it's because he wanted me to meditate in the storm going on outside before I went to bed
I really appreciate that, it means a lot
Make it whatever means the most to you!
Anyway, i need to skedaddle and pretend to do homework š«” you can always ping me if you want to chat! /gen
thank you!!!
will do
good luck!!
@languid vigil hey! How's it going my friend?
good! working on my novel but about to go to bed!
you reminded me I still need to do my tarot pull before bed
ahh whats your novel about?
oo nice
Do you have a second? I wanted to ask you if you know any good resources on Horus?
have you checked the resources here? /genq
oh I just was asking if you had yet?
found something!
woo!
yeah! we def need to add more deities to the that channel but lists are so hard to make
Books books books
Even though he was from like the late 1800s (1880s?), budge has some great books
oooo
Also before you get onto me for using the Amazon, i scoured all the metaphysical shops and used bookstores locally for books and found several, just not these
But they're to add to this pile
Coming to be annoying in the Kemetic chat
Hi how y'all doing?
Any good recs for books to learn hieroglyphics because I've been working on it recently
I've been doing divination regularly to confirm, and I've officially confirmed that Heru, or Horus, has been reaching out. I was getting more and more pulled into Kemetic deities and mythologies, and started getting signs, and I just confirmed it. Any good resources on offerings, traditional prayers, etc. to Him? I've searched high and low on Google and have found next to nothing-
have you checked the resources here we have a lot of websites and stuff that would link to pretty good info on kemetic practices
also I know this was a bit ago and I'm not sure if this is specifically on how to learn hieroglyphs but it is what we have on book recommendations for them #1114060729809653770 message
Hehe anyone here preparing for wep ronpet
I'm not preparing for celebrating but I am preparing on making a post šŖ
I hope all who celebrate have a wonderful time š«¶š«¶
šš slay!
Are you making one for the Epagomenal (I'm sure i spelled that wrong) days too?
I wasn't aware of those until right now but I can try to look into them š«”
They're the five days prior!
oooo I will def try to get them out š«”
You could def just do one post on the first day so there's not a spam haha
Each day is the birth of one of the ennead (Wesir/Osiris, Auset/Isis, Nephthys, Heru-wer (I think?), and Set/Sutekh)
The day of Wep Ronpet changes based on the year and where you are in the world but if you want to be historically accurate, then it's based on the helical rising of Sirius/Sopadet in Cairo
š ur amazing TYSM this helped a lot!
a lot of the information that I have is from like 2021 š
You're welcome! I always have to celebrate because Sutekh will not let me forget his birthday š
I can also totally suggest some Fun Activities that I like doing since it's new year!
sure! I can also credit you for them if youd like
Honestly, most of them just came from odds and ends of sources, so they're not all my ideas haha
I will be making an excretion pot where I'll write down all the stuff I want to get rid (like bad habits) on a red-painted pot and smash it on the morning of Wep Ronpet. I usually ask around and I can totally make it a group thing if other people want to add, as I'll usually add stuff for my friends anyway!
I also like making a snake effigy and tearing it apart (symbolizing the slaying of ap/ep) and generally doing a Big House Cleaning
The Epag days are for being Serious and Not Partying so Wep Ronpet is the day all hell breaks loose and you can have fun
(Also I celebrate Wep Ronpet on a slightly later date based on the rising here in the US, which I schedule as my move-in for college on so I get a fresh start!)
Hehe
Love this!!
Dua Sutekh! Beautiful storms
https://www.etsy.com/shop/JeszikaLeVye
I found this adorable shop that sells really pretty pins and prints of the Egyptian deities
I want one so bad but they're so pricy
They're very high quality though I'd say
I bought the anubis one to put on my altar and I think it's one of my favorite pins I've ever bought
Ooh that's so cool! I'd love to be able to really decorate an altar but rn I don't have enough space haha

For anyone looking for ancient Egyptian history, I found this podcast I've been really enjoying
Sometimes reading takes up too much time and listening to a podcast while doing other things helps a lot šø
Oo i should download and listen on my drive sunday!
I like to listen to it while playing games that don't require a lot of thinking haha
And podcasts on long drives are so nice
The creator of the podcast also tells the history as if it's a story rather than making it sound like a history textbooks so it really grabs my attention
Side track but here's a wonderful spell written by a friend of mine!
Oooh!
@charred needle Would you mind if I sent you a friend request? I always love having new kemetic friends!
Of course!
Egyptology Student Here š¤ Also worked with Kemetic Deities and Ancestors for over 15 years ā¤ļø
Amazing! Always love having more kemetics here even if it's quiet haha
Dua Sutekh! (cw for bright red eye strain)
i created a painting for Osir. Im thinking about making a altar for him too nervous to just worship someone else since i worship Auset
i found a calendar http://kemeticreform.org/CalendarYr19.html
Interesting! I kind of mish mash dates to make a calendar but this is excellent
Hello fellow ponies of Ponyville /ref
I don't even remember if that's what Luna says šæ
Hello!
Does anyone wanna hear a witchy story...?
Anyone š”
sure
Yayš
There was a day I asked Sekhmet to give me a sign through deep meditation (it was my first time) and the next day I saw 4 ravens and 8 crows, then after that day, at school we had an accidental lockdown. I take this as a "I will always protect you" from Sekhmet :)
That was a year or 2 ago but it still stuck with me š¤·āāļø
ooo
What are some crystals that resemble Sekhmet? :)
we have these links which might have a solid start for you: #1114061636744007720 message

Hellloooo Kemeticism chattt
i am making deity lists and wanted to know if there are any gods yall would like to see
#1114061636744007720 message (ex of deity lists ive made
)
:0!!
Is it necessary to know the history of ancient Egyptians to practice kemetism?
I wouldn't say that it's necessary but it's probably something that you should at least attempt because you are utilizing a religion that does belong to a set of people and their values is what shaped the religion.
just like how you should maybe learn about why Greek people worshiped Greek gods the same thing would go for Egyptian ones
historical context is a huge factor in religion. iād argue that yes it is necessary, especially if you are not the peoples of said group. you can definitely practice in a modern way, but that knowledge is powerful to have so you can understand what youāre practicing better
agree
when I said it's not necessary I meant more along the lines that u don't have to be like a historian in the concept of ancient Egypt. but you should especially be in the basics of learning in the historical religious aspect. /gen
I also think that specifically with Kemetism learning its history is kind of important considering that pharaohs and kings were often seen as embodiments of the gods. so like knowing who they were is probably important

a Resource on how to say the names of Egyptian gods!
Is it necessary to know about the history of ancient Egypt to worship the gods? I'm saying this because first its complicated and u need to read alot of books. Second i read digitally and it hurt my eyes sometimes. Is there any videos on YouTube that explains it all?
if you read up a little bit you'll see a conversation we had on this exact same subject
when it comes to there being videos on the history of ancient Egypt that I'm not sure of though I don't doubt it
we may have some in #1114060729809653770 but another thing that you could possibly do is using text to speech features to have it read it to you or going and looking into audiobooks in terms of books to read
as I mentioned in the comments above ancient Egypt in particular mentions a lot of kings and Pharaohs as embodiments of the gods themselves so in my opinion it would kind of need to be at least something to look into
What are the key things i need to know
well it's all really interconnected. I would start with the rulers and go from there. you don't have to be like an academic scholar in ancient Egypt but you should know some basics imo

Hello everyone, I was very surprised to see a place for kemeticism! It's wonderful to read through your posts c:
Yes!!! I love meeting kemetics
Hey yall Iāve been looking at sources and books and I feel like I donāt have enough do you guys have any book recs
hi! as previously asked by another member of staff can you please remove the font from your name?
ty! as for book recs I think we have some in our resources channel
Guys i learned about the history of ancient Egypt but do i have to know everything? I learned about what are pyramid and coffin texts, the first pyramid ever build, what happened in each dynasties until the end of the new kingdom and more. Do i have to know everything that happened else or just the base is enough?
Itās impossible to know everything about anything, I think as long as your confident and comfortable in yourself and knowledge with and of them then your okay. Be sure to look into decolonization of Kemeticism as well and the Greco Roman period and why the Greeks adopted the gods etc.
Are you asking as a way of telling if youāre ready to practice kemeticism? Or work with the Neteru?

As Wep Ronpet (Kemetic New Year) is coming up next month, I am working on creating a community execration pot, which is a (technically ancient) tradition where you write down all the bad things in your life, then smash the pot to get rid of them. It's symbolic of the slaying of Ap/ep!
If you have any negativity in your life, whether it be bad habits, bad people, or bad vibes, you can leave it in the form. I will add it to the pot to be smashed on Wep Ronpet (August 8th, in Cairo), symbolically getting rid of everything submitted!
For more on Wep Ronpet (and the proceeding Epagomenal days) check out this post: https://thetwistedrope.wordpress.com/2013/07/03/wep-ronpet-a-guide/
To submit things to the Pot, use this form. It is anonymous!
https://forms.gle/GFSTcTvnYSfg8YPz9
is it august? app im using and online says july 19th
It's technically correlated with the helical rising of Sirius! Historically it was in July but astronomically it takes place in early August in Cairo!
won ronpet is celebrated when the star of Sirius rises in your area! in cairo it rises in august
yuhhh
The actual sky has shifted bc it's been so long!
It's correlated with the annual flooding of the nile as well
But that hasn't happened since the Aswan dam
šāāļø its also going to keep moving! in the next decade cairo will have it rise sometime around August 10th
Sobek!
Soo I just looked up when Wep Ronpet is based on my location and it's the day after my birthday

oooo thats so fun

Mine is when I move back to college!
Happy Wep Ronpet to Y'all! Hope you have an AMAZING new year and accomplish all you want to. May Isfet stay out of your lives!
YEAHHH! i hope you did you andy
thank you for taking on the smashing for those that participated
Hey, so I worship mostly greek deities and recently started worshipping Anubis bc he reached out to me in a dream. I know with hellenism you cant eat food offerings given to underworld deities, and I wanted to ask if its the same in kemeticsm
As far as I'm aware it's encouraged to eat or use your offerings in some way so as not to bring about waste which is part of the Laws of Ma'at but someone else more knowledgeable than myself please feel free to chime in!
Anubis! Yeah you can eat offerings generally in Kemetic practices! It's considered pretty standard for any deity
Just don't offer them foods that are considered offensive, like I think fish is one for Osiris??
Welcome to the gang
Btw ive found that the Kemetic deities prefer their original names more like for example Osiris would be Wesir in Kemet and Anubis would be Anpu
If yall want I can send a list of deities with their Kemetic names in here?
I believe we have multiple lists of the names in #1114060729809653770 but im not sure
you could also submit it as a resource tho
Ok
i love using wiktionary for information on their traditional names
i have a spreadsheet i work on often with lots of information on the middle egyptian language: hieroglyph information, pronunciation trends, words, etc
i also have a google document for anything else i feel like documenting that doesn't fit neatly into a spreadsheet format
most of my information comes from wiktionary, james p allen's middle egyptian, and my own analysis of images of the written language on wikimedia commons
my spreadsheet originally started as an analysis of middle egyptian pronunciation for combinations of letters based on the reconstructions in many of wiktionary's articles for egyptian words, but now it's extended into logging more information for just that
the analysis isn't a super accurate show of how something would definitely be pronounced, but i use it to give some sort of idea of it for words that don't have a middle egyptian pronunciation reconstruction on wiktionary
i have a lot of different ways i write the deity names when i'm texting, and i'm not super consistent about it. sometimes i use their english names since thats the most likely to be understood by most people, sometimes i use the more accurate names used in kemetic communities (ex: anpu and wesir like mars said), sometimes i use the hieroglyphic spellings (as in using unicode hieroglyphs), sometimes i do the romanised versions of those hieroglyphic spellings (like what is used in the titles of the wiktionary articles, though i usually only use characters i can actually type, and sometimes i substitute certain letters for ones more accurate to how they were pronounced), or sometimes i do a more phonetic spelling of the word, writing out the actual pronunciation in latin characters in a way that the average reader could mostly get the gist of how it'd be pronounced
it's fun how much variety there is, haha
sometimes i substitute certain letters for ones more accurate to how they were pronounced
the most baffling one to me is how šæ is romanised as "a" when it's really pronounced as a rolled R
i wonder what the origin of that romanisation is
i often see something similar (but more understandable) with š, treating it like an "i," so i wonder if it might be a sort of attempt to turn the consonants into vowels. like, on a good handful of wiktionary articles for egyptian words, they don't give the full historical reconstruction, just the modern egyptological pronunciation where they injected Es between most of the consonants and kept those two as As and Is, which is how we got "wesir" out of "wsjr" for example
but with that mention of wsjr i must note we really have no clue what the actually etymology or pronunciation of that word is anyway, haha
but even more uncertain than the name of osiris is the name of nu, because oh my, just look at this:
Fell down with the flu, feel like it's kicking my ass pretty hard. Been told I can't go to work for 5 days, felt compelled to light the altars of Sekhmet and Bast for a speedy recovery.
I also added a new kitty friend to Sekhmet's statue, looks as tho it was always there!
Dua Sekhmet!
Dua Bast!
very beautiful altar!
Thank you! I've been working on it for a very long time :D
Hi, I was wondering where I would start when it comes to learning Kemeticism and creating an altar for Sekhmet, Bastet, and Ra
Very new to all this and would appreciate any help/being lead in the right direction
For altars, the easiest path to start is just make a drawing or print an image out! When I started out I only had these oracle cards to represent the Netjeru.
Put a space for devotions and offerings like a cup for water/wine (if you're 21+), a plate for food, a small candle or even an electric tea light works!, and just put in a space that you see daily but is out of the way from pets or small children. If you like, some incense of their preferred scents work nicely, and some trinkets you feel called to give them :)
Thank you so much!!! I'm in the process of buying some shelves so I can start!
As for worship for those you've listed, https://akhretnotes.weebly.com/sekhmet.html#/ has a section towards the bottom about her rituals and worship :)
Same for Ra: https://akhretnotes.weebly.com/ra.html#/
And Bast(et): https://akhretnotes.weebly.com/bastet.html#/
!!! Thank you! This is amazing
Dua Netjeru!
hi! if you are interested you could share this in #šsubmissions for it to be added to out resources lists š«¶ /nf/info
I typically wouldn't 3D print a statue but desperate times in finding an affordable Nebt-het statue called for desperate measures
Had done this one a few days back
those look awesome!
appears
So THOTH I don't personally work with or worship him but I do know quite a few people who do!
Don't mind me. Just interested.
Over the past few days Iāve been doing research on him, as well as Kemeticism as a whole (because I donāt wanna be approaching this from a vacuum)
-# also Diva Chel pfp spotted
Haha yeah...
That's valid! I work with his Daughter-Consort Seshat, as I see her as my patron for my career (libraries/museums)
I did a tarot reading because I felt the presence of an entity, and the general consensus of the interpretation was that it could be Thoth
Then, as I did more research on him, I felt that connection more and more, because of his domains and what heās associated to d with
are there any specific things you want to know about him? I might be able to get you in touch with people who would know more
I've heard he's very, like, stern teacher crossed with a fatherly energy
Iād just like to know more about him in general, Iāve been using the resources here to learn and take notes, but Iād like to get info from the perspective of those who actually work with him
Thatās exactly what it felt like!!
can I shoot you a dm then?
I actually did two readings, because I accidentally did the first with only the major arcana (reading is pivotal)
And when I did the second one with all 78, it basically told me to chill out cause I had it the first time TvT
Sure :D
Interesting. I've never worked with Thoth either. But his energy must feel intense.
Working with Ra, that's kind of how I expected his energy to feel. Stern, fatherly teacher, that's kinda strict. But that's not what I got at all.
I've interacted with Ra a few times, and he always felt like eating a whole bowl of soup??? idk how to explain it
-# this just in: Ra is soup
I have been researching more recently into a Set-Ra syncretic form but IDK how well I could wrap my head around it
Syncretic forms are SO cool and I wish my brain worked with them
I also know someone who worships Auset-Nebt-het and I am SO intrigued
AH shit I need to finish the daily I got distracted
Haha that's pretty interesting!
Iām actually surprised a deity from a different pantheon reached out to me at all tbh :P
I usually only worship/work with my own, as best as I can due to the limited information available
that's so valid
I came from Methodist christianity and pretty immediately into Kemeticism and have refused to leave since
Set and Nebt-het make up the most of my practice, but Anubis was the first and Seshat is a recent addition
(Nebt-het = Nephthys)
I understand that!
I stuck to Greek deities for a while after leaving Christianity, then when I discovered I could worship Egyptian deities Anubis hasn't left my mind
About 10 years ago I left baptist chrisitanity. First deity I went to was aphrodite. Then as my practice developed around solar witchcraft, I wanted to work with a sun deity. Ra was my first choice.
(I didn't know about my own cultures sun god)
Also, I felt/feel very drawn to kemticism.
I came from nondenominational Christianity, and I mainly worship the African American pantheon, as well as practice Hoodoo ^^
Christianity is heavily involved, so at least my Bible is still useful
I love the concept of solar witchcraft so much?? My practice has always been pretty dark/moon/night coded
SLAY I practice Appalachian Folk Magic, which is still pretty biblical focused but I've been taking steps to try and deconstruct it some
It's funny, my goals with my craft align with Ra's goals. To spread Light and Life. And my practice is heavily reliant on the sun. (Someone mentioned getting sun lamps since it's winter. And that idea is so cool and such a good idea)
omg I have one that's also an alarm clock and it's SO nice
also @soft anvil if you want to get in touch with other Ra worshippers, I know someone who is a devotee to him who would love to talk about him with you. She's awesome
Sick. I'm down/
Neato! Abrahamic religions are pretty embedded into my culture as a whole
Including Islam for some people
I do want to practice more shamanism and include more of my own native culture into my craft. But don't want to spread myself thin.
Sorry, not kemeticism I know.
Juggling overall witchcraft with specific cultural practices can be a lot on oneās plate -0-
Iām out here dodging and debunking appropriated sources left and right š
I can only imagine how difficult that could be
-# as I am a white cracker with no significant culture lol
But we all know how they do Hoodoo and other practices, so I donāt have to get into it
To circle back to Kemeticism so we donāt get in trouble- although I wonāt be practicing, I did make sure to do general beginnerās research on the religion and its concepts, so I wouldnāt be approaching Thoth in a vacuum with no background info
I gotta go finish my Commitment, but y'all can always ping me o7
I shared this with Hemlock. But did I share what Ra's energy/presence feels like?
(Also def look into Kemetic Orthodoxy. It's weird and for some people but not most kemetics)
-# I really like how Ra's presence feels like, in terms of how it was described
Iām lowkey worried to see what my countries practices have been reduced too since yours has been reduced to āitās demonic!!!ā āItās evil!!!!ā
I know the basics of living in Maāat and how the Netjeru fight against a/pep and Isfet, the mythology behind Thoth himself, etc etc
Will do!
Might be in somewhat the same boat tbh
Yeah I have a feeling, that or itās on its last leg
The entirety of my country is catholic Iām pretty sure
Does anyone have any resources they especially like for kemetic myths? Iām working on a Kemetic comic project that Iām trying to learn about as many myths for as possible
Augh ok let me pull my fav books and resources in the morning - please ping me if I don't respond by like 9pm est today (2-14)
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it!
Hey no rush at all just wondering if youād gotten the resources/books

Hello, I wanted to know if I could ask anyone some questions as I was talking to my partner about learning more about paganism and the way the different gods are being the Greek, roman, Celtic, Norse, and Egyptian. I was asking her about how would I know if I was getting a sign if a god was contacting me and she said that I need to first focus on shadow work before just reaching out to the gods.
Right after having the conversation with her and taking a nap I would get a dream of my partner and I in a birthing room as we are expecting a new addition to our family currently. We were talking then a women I can't really make out and a man with a lion and dog like head appeared in the room. After the man with the dog like head left the room and to not look at what was coming. A darkness would come over the room and then the two that were in the room were wrapped and covered by some dark wrap. After this would happen a ring of fire would come around us and a being come out on a horse though it would then change to a man on a motorcycle or bike with a bat that had spikes on it. He was headed to my wife and surprisingly I was stuck in the passenger seat of the dream I was able to have free roam so I and the man with the lion head ran towards the man on the bike to confront him. The man with the lion head knocked him on the bike and struck the man down with his bat.
I looked up after what the gods could be from the dream that I had with a vague picturization and got back that the dog like man was Annubis and the lion head man was Maahes. Though I still am unable to figure out who the lady was in the room
i dont know much about Egyptian deities but it could be worth looking into goddesses connected to Anubis and Maahes
I am new to working with the pagan or god work coming from Christianity as a Baptist when looking into gods that work with them is there a certain thing that I should look for or a group of gods that are in association with them?
so i would generally suggest looking at family trees or myths from both and see who pops out to you for both of them
a lot of deities in polytheistic (and monotheistic too but) religions tend to have connections in mythology that cause them to influence one another.
Osiris for example being a god that is often spoken about in myth so hes highly connected.
From how you describe it the goddess or figure here doesnt have much influence on the dream as a whole so it may be a weaker connection or one thats only connected to the Maahes.
The most that I remember from her is that when they first all appeared in the room they were human, though once the room went dark they all changed form. One a dog, a lion, and the last a bird. The only thing else that I remeber is that she stayed by my partners side during the entire event
From looking into the group that is with Annubis I believe the goddess to be nephthys
solid! id do vetting or identification readings on them all to be double sure and go from there
Will do thank you. Are there any books or source material you would reccomend for me to use?
as i said i am not super into egyptian mythology!
this is a message from andy on book sources: #1114760558768570398 message
and this is the link to our resources channel on Egyptian mythology: https://discord.com/channels/599776551306788874/1114060729809653770 (if it says its unknown its because its an inactive forum but it still works)
Thank you, honestly for taking time out of your day to talk and help me I will look into these two forums
no problem!
Also last question that might sound weird is there a rosary equal in kemeticism?
from my understanding not an official one but you can make prayer beads for any religion
Thank you again
Just remember not to call it specifically a "rosary" as that's only for Catholicism. Generic "prayer beads" is ok as you're not appropirating anything from someone else's religion/people. Even being raised in a Catholic home myself, I wouldn't call my beaded necklaces, studded rings, or beaded strands rosaries as I'm not Catholic.
hello chat i just woke up from a dream where a lady was in a temple-like setting conducting rituals to help people connect to Hathor. might chew on it and do a reading
Youāre dream is really interesting, the dog headed god does sound like Anubis, who I am a follower of, there are many Egyptian gods with lions heads but typically they are protectors, usually brought forth by Ra the sun god and great protector, as for the woman I would personally look into Isis or Hathor, specifically Hathorās human half if she was not represented as a cow in your dream, both women are good signs for childbirth and protectors of women during pregnancy and birth, your wife may be protected by one of these wonderful ladies, if they seem familiar I would personally start with an offering, say thank you for the protection, leave something out for them (water, milk, a little beer maybe, a fruit, bread, jewelry, etc) you donāt have to do shadow work to worship and appreciate any of these gods. We mostly worry about shadow work when you want to WORK with a god/goddess, I hope that helps a little?
A bird sounds like Isis! A wonderful goddess to be protecting or staying with an expecting partner, she in myth struggled to conceive her own child, so she adopted the abandoned Anubis as a young boy, and raised him, and then conceived of Horus, the last divine pharaoh and the avenger of her husband Osiris. She is known as a protector of women and mothers, along with being known as a strong queen and a lady of magic, most commonly taking the form of a bird!
surprised it's been quiet for a while in here
Some folks are probably asleep or busy, but otherwise a lot of folks like to ask questions related to their practice/religion in here that way their questions don't get buried! #šÆļøwitchy is kinda the most commonly used one for general witchy chatting
Also! Are you able to remove the star symbol from your server name for accessibility reasons? We got folks here who use screen readers and the screen readers have a hard time processing those fancy symbols
ofc sure! apologies for any issues
Thank you! And it's alright
Can someone tell me if I can put a picture of Ra where there's pictures of other gods too? My family follows a different path but they said I can put a picture of him there If I want to
I don't see why it would be an issue if you're worried you could always ask him specifically. but living in a family with mixed faiths often means that your gods may share a space.
Btw do you think that using an ai generated picture of him on an altar is bad? I couldn't find a picture I liked so I had ai make one
!ai
hello carl?
!ai
so carl gave up on me /j but we dont support AI use
ah carl hates threads
carl š
Short answer: yes.
Long answer: we can't stop you from using ai.
but you should really think about the environmental impact that using AI has. this god has existed for thousands of years. I'm sure there is a singular picture somewhere out there that would fit your aesthetic view of him, that doesn't result in environmental damage and stolen artwork /gen
Got it
I decided to go for a simple one
v cool!
Does anyone else here feel like Raās been pulling them close lately? I always worshiped him but it was lesser, and lately itās felt like Iāve been pulled towards him so much more, and others around me have been as well, itās been really interesting
Ra always pulls stronger during the spring and summer for me as days get longer!
Drawing of Anubis I did
Hey guys, is anyone here from KO?
i would check https://discord.com/channels/599776551306788874/1114061823377952809 for altar suggestions (for example if the budget is too much of a problem id suggest looking for digital altars!), and in #1114061636744007720 and https://discord.com/channels/599776551306788874/1114060729809653770 you can find more thoth specific offerings (from what im seeing some are really budget friendly)
my personal advice for budget altars would be to go for craftable things or things you already own, after all the importance of the offering mostly comes down to the meaning you give to it
While this server is great for community and finding resources, we are not a search engine and doing your own research outside of the server is key to developing a full picture of your practice or practice-to-be. No one resource is going to have all the information you need and show all the dimensions of a subject.
that was not the one i wanted š¤
To see if we have any resources on a subject do: [ in: šļøresources things you want] into the server search bar. Do not use the "Search or create post" option in the resources channel, that searches through the names of the posts not the messages.
If we do not have any resources on your subject, you may post a request in the resources channel and other members may fulfill your request. However, please do look at our existing resources before you request any new ones.
You may also do /research in order to learn more about approaching your own research in spiritual spaces!
Probably should finish reading mechanics of the practice first tbh
of kemeticism ? /gq
i mean you can but if you want to worship thoth an altar before reading everything about ancient egypt is perfectly doable! id just suggest researching more about thoth specifically
