I'm thinking of making altar for elemental spirits but I need ideas, may I have some help?

would start with figuring out what you associate with each element and how you could incorporate those things in your altar. giving things that represent the elements is a great first start

I would note that it does look used so I would be sure that you're not using something that's closed since white sage is an herb that only native Americans can use/gen

Question about alters (I’m new and I’m trying different ways to practice and alters seems interesting) if someone can answer my questions on it.

When first getting into altering how do you know which spirit,etc to do that with? Do you choose or does it choose you through candles,tarots, pendulums?

I do know that you should decorate the alter space with how they like it,historical backgrounds and such) and that a size of one should not matter as well?

okay so making an altar is essentially something that you do in order to have a space of dedication and worship for a spirit or entity that you work with.

now when it comes to working with entities you are entirely free to reach out to them on your own or look and wait for signs from those entités.

you are correct in that size doesn't really matter cuz you can have words as small as a mint box to as big as an entire room

well there are multiple ways you can go about it!

some people reach out to deities or entities that they feel called to and are interested in lore wise, while others wait until they have signs from a specific entity

personally I tend to reach out to gods because I don't really see signs clearly

just making sure that they don't come from like a closed religion or a religion in which you yourself cannot participate in is also important

if you're worried about safety and you have access to video games that's also another option that can also help with things that are pretty blatantly like religious since most of the times you can just use skins or use whatever they have available in game to be your representation

however if a server works for you that's entirely fine you can make different channels or categories or threads you could even do voice recordings for things like saying prayers or hymns or stuff like that if you'd like

it's basically what all you want to add

just like with any other altar it's a personalized space for you and your worship of deities you can add or skip out on anything you want really

do you want it to be just a space for your worship?
if so then skip out on adding channels for things like tarot meanings etc

or would you want to treat it more like a grimoire?
maybe have different categories for worship and things you learn

like the server is your oyster, create it as you please

since it's an altar space:
do you want to keep all the beings you work/worship in one place?
do you want them separate?
what about the things you have for offerings or things you make? do you want all your prayers in one spot? or would you want the ones you make for 1 deity in a space dedicated to them?

these are a lot of questions but this is sorta what making an altar is about

I would suggest something like maybe grapes or raisins if you can do it purple seems to be a pretty solid color for him also green foliage maybe some leaves or making a crown of branches

so it kind of depends on what you have available and how openly you can practice

if you're in the closet and you can't openly practice looking into something like a digital altars or shoebox related altars might be an option

as I stayed a lot an altar is a space for you to worship your God so what you put on there is going to be entirely up to you and your God.

we do have things that a lot of people do end up offering that is either personally agreed upon or colloquially agreed upon but there is no wrong way to make an altar so long as you're doing so respectfully

i made these like moodboard style offerings/digital altars for Angus and Bride and I’m thinking of printing them and putting them as part of their altars, has anyone else done anything like this? (i also in the broom closet so my “altar” is a little box with my deity candles, tarot cards, and moon water that i then set up when i can)

there is "set" way to make an altar as is a space that is for your personal devotion and offerings. you can make a space for offerings and such but an altar might be a bit difficult if you arent sure of who it is.

i would also rec making sure you have your basics down before hopping into entity work as you wanna be sure you can protect yourself and figure out who your talking with properly

there is no right or wrong way to make an altar you can even use digital if you do not have access to or cannot openly worship and make one.

for some people these spaces are also where they will perform their spell work for others it's just a place of worship.

some people use purely traditional means like they only put traditional offerings others implement modern things like candy or video games

Wanted to share my Artemis, Aphrodite and Hera altar (i have like 6 other altars in my room and was running out of space so they have a large dedicated space in my closet tho i have to also use my closet for storage). I just réarranged a little and all and i think it looks décent 💖 also the doll i found in a thrift store and reminded me of Hera so i had to get her as an offering for Hera's altar space 💖

The other two statues are Artemis and the large crystal is a giant pièce of amethyst my friend gave me before they moved which i found fitting for Artemis

This is my Cthonic altar, all the art on the wall came from artists i bought from at markets or online artists. The one of the fruit came from an art museum journal i had where they had a different art piece on each page in the museum. The cicada parada came from a label off a can that i really liked. The horseshoe crab watercolor was something i made/painted. I think this altar is one of my absolute favorites! Also one of my friends made me the two bone and bug taxidermy projects on the wall. All the flowers on my altar or on my wall were dried by me. 🥰

This is technically a divination box for a deck that the box was falling apart and the guidebook but also is a nice travel altar for Hekate. The deck is botanica, i laminated the deck book (ontop of the deck cards), took apart the remaining deck box i had and taped it (in case i want to change or glue it later) into the inside top of the wooden box. The box was gifted by my friend, the candle is just red and black wax (I dont light it in there but i like to store it in there when im not using it), I have a obsidian tree crystal thing, theres other crystals and this hekate przyer czrd on the bottom that you cant see. Really proud how it came together

• succulent figure for some ✨ fake plant ✨ aesthetic
• confidence spell jar, self love + passionate life spell, and self growth + prosperity spell
  -# ALSO the FIRST spells i EVER made!!! redone of course but yea <3 also a spell i forgot its intentions but it was made by someone close so i can't bring myself to get rid or undo it <3
• some lapis stone (likely fake and just dyed/painted) with "water" and the water symbol on it
• the only books i have right now (😭) a thesaurus, recipe book, an Ever After High journal and a D&D 5e book all related to various devotions

its an incense holder actually! and its a "capuchino", catholic people who have joined a brotherhood/sisterhood, and wear those clothes on easter, on the processions

you can google "Capuchinos Nazarenos" if you wanna see the full clothing! the incense holder is meant to resemble them

Anything related to the night or nocturnal creature's, owls bat's certain bugs (especially birds I feel though). Night time items you'd use in a routine like lotion or dehorderhant(?) Any carnivores or carion eaters (VULTURES !!!) anything that has a scythe or sword. Stuff like a bucket list or aspirations, of course anything "aesthetic" of ||death|| like a mini coffin or tombstone, or flowers that symbolize passing (tbh any wilting or dried flower does the trick)

Coins and floral offerings are also very common for the ||dead|| so I feel like it's fitting

It find pretty funny that alters can just have the most random stuff on it like with my Apollo altar I have a little statue of him surrounded by crystals also and some sun jewelry I got also with cards of what the crystals represent it’s great but then it got kinda crowded with my other stuff since it’s on my dresser so now I gave him: an American girl mug, a rainbow brite cup, my perfume, a quarter and a penny, and a name tag that has Paul on it. I think he appreciates all of it 😂
