general rule of thumb I follow is is quartz (jasper, agate, carnelian, and tigers' eye included) are generally the hardest and can handle being together, and treat everything else gently, especially your calcites and obsidians

if it ends in an "-ite" it's also usually softer

TLDR I'm planning to cut ties with a friend of mine. I know she has hexxed and potentially tried to curse others in the past, and I plan on upping my wards to get ahead of the situation.
I've already pulled some obvious stones like obsidian, labradorite, black tourmaline, and smoky quartz, but do y'all have any advice for other crystals I could use? I have a ton so if you got an idea there's a 75% chance I might have it

Mahogany obsidian is fantastic and some selenite to keep the crystals charged and ready for action (blue kyanite would also do the trick) and maybe some amethyst not 100% sure but it wouldn't hurt

so the 3rd eye is something that is related to chakras which are a closed energy system.

there are alternative terms that don't have the exact same meaning but are similar!

we also have a very massive crystals guide here with correspondences. however I will note that crystal meanings (like the meanings of pretty much everything) are subject to a person's culture/background/etc
it doesn't make the other meanings contradictory or bs but just different. since different cultures have different meanings for things

As someone with a third eye and from a long line of third eyed people I can confirm that an amethyst does help. Many of my relatives who do also have the eye use amethysts or orgones.

In my experience it is somewhat hereditary. My grandmother and a few of her sisters had it but my parents didn’t. I’m the only grandchild who has it. Sometimes it’s there but it isn’t awake. Everyone has a third eye some are just open. There are triggers, sometimes triggers can open it especially if it runs in the family. In my experience it usually opens when your a child like 1 or 2 and then either stays or returns when your older

it's related to chakras which is a specific energy system and is one that is directly tied to Hinduism and Buddhism. people not in those religions don't have that system of energy because they're not in those religions.

iirc its a mix of amethyst and citrine happening naturally

rock app is saying that pile 5 is a sort of dyed agate which i can see since that color isnt really common with that type of banding. the closest i can think of it being to color wise is Amazonite but that isnt a crystal that bands with circles it sorta layers itself

that big 3 might be a red agate or cherry quartz but its hard to tell with lighting (since its in shadow)

the little 4 might be montana moss agate but im not sure since its not v big

6 may be a green moss agate peice (most moss agate has a white base but that one might have a green one

so it might depend on the crystal the method of cleansing but you can usually do so in most ways you can cleanse other things so Sunlight, Moonlight, water, smoke, sound, the use of other crystals like selenite, etc

as for how often that's a decision that's up to you! I take all my jewelry off every time I come home and put it cleansing spaces then on full moons, send it for a moon soak, but not everybody works that way so it your jewelry may need more frequent or even less cleansing

Not necessarily! It's just the element that that crystal is inherently associated with (like amethyst and water) so you can use those crystals to represent those elements/energies if you want

Like I personally wouldn't want to carry an air-related crystal if I want grounding throughout my day. That would probably be better suited to a crystal with earth associations

Sorry to bother again, found out I can cleanse with incense, does it matter what type or just what energy you put into it? Also heard that you don't necessarily have to charge your crystals, they'll work regardless?

There are incenses associated with cleansing, but smoke in general is also cleansing so if you want to go that route I'd suggest finding one that you like the smell of!
I don't personally charge my crystals so definitely not a requirement, but some people do charge them so that's up to you!

Small disclaimer with incense- if you have pets, I would recommend using something other than smoke because animals have little lungs that are very sensitive. There's tons of options though! Sound like clapping, bells, or music is a great option as is keeping them near selenite (or another self-cleansing crystal) or popping them in some moonlight every now and then/as you see fit

First cleanse done, will say I did burn a bit further done the stick to "cut off" the energies it cleansed, don't know why but that felt right to do...to stop it there and let a cleaner smoke come from it. Might very messed up by doing that but felt right 😊

I had a friend gift me a nice selenite, my first! My cat knocked it off my dresser today and I almost fainted lol. It doesn't seem to be broken at least. I know it can't get wet, but is selenite pretty sturdy otherwise?

figuring out the hardness is key for identifyication

quartz is a great tool too for testing

the best way is to eliminate all other options as rocks will not just say “hello I am fluroite :3”

you just need to try and make a tiny scratch

if it scratches, see if it goes lower, if it doesn’t, use a harder tool

its so hard to get a proper photo because in darker/yellower lights it looks so much more blue but then under brighter/whiter lights it looks much whiter, but some photos of blue aventurine do look a bit similar in texture, its got tht sort of "grainy" look you mentioned

aventurine is on a 6-7 on the mohs, so about as hard as a quartz crystal (7) or steel nail (6.5) but is harder than a penny.
see if your rocks scratch with each (if you have them) and you may have your answer

I lucked out in finding a really good crystal shop in my area. it helps because their stuff is legit. sadly there can be scammers online among the genuine sellers, so I'm hesitant to seek out crystals online personally :((

Yes and no. It's something that varies how you believe magic energy work;

My process of thinking. Everything has and absorbs energy (that's how science works- it can't created or destroyed just changed or transferred) and with crystals they take energy in transforming it into whatever they're made for. Like humans taking oxygen turning it into c02, quartz takes all the bad energy turning it into protective or cleansing it before sending it back out
Some crystals are very versatile in how they can change energy making them good for everything, some are very specific in process making them only good for certain things.

Honestly you don't have to understand what process you're using if you think of one at all. If it works it works is good enough to be magic
