The swashbucklers have come to plunder the ancient dungeon in the search for treasure. The combo would function similar to the crossbow and dagger combo, however both weapons will be slightly different.
The saber is about the length of the normal sword, however it is much thinner and deals less damage than the sword when slashing, but thrusting with the saber deals the saber’s full damage. Swinging the saber will be best for knocking back enemies or deflecting ranged attacks, while thrusting will be the main damage dealer. The saber being so thin does mean there may be a little bit of wobble with it. Maybe a funny little Easter egg would be wobbling it on purpose would produce that funny little wobbling sound.
For the flintlock, it is a magic flintlock, it recharges on its own every few seconds and deals some mild damage (4-5), however if an enemy is in the middle of an attack (Like a zombie lunge, a skull charge, a skeleton jump, etc) and you fire the flintlock at them, it will essentially parry the enemy’s attack and deal double damage. This stacks with crits meaning the flintlock has a chance to deal serious damage if you time your shot right, AND get lucky.
Possible augments for the saber could be making the saber give you momentum when you thrust in any direction. Another could be making the saber longer in exchange for it being more wobbly (or the inverse and make it shorter with little to no wobble at all)
Possible augments for the flintlock could be that damage increases the further away an enemy is, however close range damage takes a hit. (And again an inverse where close range damage is higher, but long range attacks gain damage fall off) another augment could be longer flintlock recharge times in exchange for exploding bullets (similar to default crossbow bolts), or an augment that makes the next bullet gain increased damage as more enemies die before it is shot.
Some quality of life would be that there would be an additional setting option to change whether you want the saber to be on your right hand or left hand, and the flintlock on the opposite.
