Punches knock enemies back further.

Punches have a chance to slow the enemy.
Sleight of Hand
Punching an enemy may make them drop some of their loot early.
As much as i and others want a fist-based class, i think we need to accept that it just wouldn't work well without becoming not-really-that-fist-based. This is my suggestion for a different way to give some attention to bare-handed fighting! I personally don't care for most of the accessory slot augments, so to me these would be a very welcome alternative!
