#Bow and arrow

I had thought of the bow when using the crossbow and I was just thinking a bow would be more fun than just priming the crossbow and shooting as you would have to reach behind for a arrow or by having to pull it back to charge it being more active

Mechanic ideas v

  1. When using the bow enemy’s have small yellow marks on them and hitting right in the middle would be a crit

  2. You have 3-4 bottles on your side of different chemicals and you have the option to put a arrow tip into one or multiple creating multiple different combinations

  3. Shooting a arrow as soon as the full charge indicator happens would do a crit and reduce charge time for next arrow/s

General use v

Arrows would have to be manually collected with the exception of one falling in a hole or not being collected for more than 20 seconds to separate it from the crossbow but also if the arrow is in the roof or unreachable meaning missing shots will have a negative effect

For up close use you would use a dagger thats smaller than the crossbows dagger but it will do 1 tick of poison and you can click the grip trigger to choose normal grip or reverse grip cause it’s cooler using reverse grip: Dagger does 2 poison does 2

Damage would scale on charge the more pulled back the more damage you will do a full charge would have a shiny indicator on the tip of the bow

Any crits with the bow will do a bleed effect doing 3 ticks of 3 damage will be dealt every time the target moves: From a dash, attack or doing a action example summoning or shooting a projectile

You would start with 5 arrows in your quiver but can find more from chest or rare enemy drops having a max of 8 arrows if any of the 3 gained arrows aren’t collected or fall in a hole they will be lost you will need to find more would stop sticking into whatever it hit after 3 seconds so grabbing them off a boss isn’t a guaranteed hit on you

Still in progress
looking for others input

while i do like the idea of encouraging people to aim at weakpoints, certain parts of the enemies, etc, i feel like having a way to guarantee crits ( yellow marks ) with a weapon that has 3x crit damage ( instead of the normal 2x ) basekit would be a bit broken

#

additionally with garnet that would be 4.5x crit damage so

#

uh

Yea I see now 3x damage would be a lot I also didn’t consider the in game items that increase that. for example if base damage is 10 per charged shot that would be 30 I feel like the bow should have a special interaction with crit shots as I feel it makes sense for a bow to do so

still OP though

#

1's mechanic seems like an interesting idea for sure

#

I think it'd be better if those strikes didn't guarantee a crit, just doubled your crit chance or something

#

i like the idea of a quiver being a gimmick, but i dont like the idea of finding more

#

I think it'd be interesting if the gimmick of the quiver was that you have to manually retrieve the arrows, and if you can't, they have some decently long return cooldown

brittle star
#

i have an idea for a gimmick for this
there is effectively no melee (in the tome & wand sense, where you can technically hit enemies with the arrow, but its not intended as a main way to kill enemies), but arrow strikes count as both melee and ranged strikes for the sake of relics and effects

#

i think this could be a fun combo, but i think itd end up being too similar to Tome & Wand

its additive though

50% ( half ) of 3 is 1.5

vro

#

bow has 3x base crit dmg instead of 2

It’d still be 3.5x…

damn, this is a good idea. y'know what it could really use? a shield
SHITPOST
NOT THE GOOD IDEA PART THO, IT'S GENUINELY GOOD IDEA

Shield is meh

All shields would just work like weapons and daggers we already have but maybe bigger or circular

terse solar
#

another idea for this is a relic that regens arrows in the quiver

celest lintel
#

no exclusive relics

tidal cairn
#

Adding .5x

#

And multiplying by 1.5

brittle star
#

unless the value is 1x, no

#

2x + 0.5x is 2.5x, 2x * 1.5x is 3x

brittle star
tidal cairn
#

It’s not .5x then

#

It’s just plus .5

#

For the multiplier

#

It doesn’t really matter anyway

brittle star
#

same bs confusion that percents cause

brittle star
#

+100% and x2 aren't the same and I dont like it

brittle star
brittle star
#

not a multiplier

i dont think so

brittle star
#

if a game's stat system interprets +x% as additive and not multiplicative, theyre different

brittle star
#

because +x% or (x)x dont show what thing the percent or multiplier is of

#

cause +x% could be +x% of the base value, or of the current value

#

either of these can be the system that a game considers +x%

#

i was talking about enchanted garnet being +0.5x tho
