This is a weapon combo I thought of purely because I want a rapier in the game, I’m not sure if this is even a good concept but I wanna hear your guy’s opinion
Main weapon: Rapier
A long, thin blade that prioritizes thrusting attacks
4 damage base
Has a tipper hitbox that does 2x damage
(This next bit is stolen directly from someone else’s post so if this is your idea it was good)
Scales damage based on the combined momentum of you and the enemy, up to 3x damage (Essentially, if you and whatever you’re hitting are flying at eachother, you do a ton more damage. This is relevant later)
This weapon could definitely be something else, like a cutlas, claw, gauntlet, lance, etc, but I personally just like rapiers.
Side weapon: Hook
A meat hook with a rope (or chain) attached to it
3 damage base
Throws like the knife, with limited range (similar to the bomb)
When thrown, a rope is attached to your hand. If you hit an enemy, you become tethered.
When you’re tethered, the rope is free to come in and out of your hand
Pressing trigger stops the the rope from coming out of your hand, allowing you to yank enemies to you. If an enemy cannot be pulled or influenced by knockback (fly nest, beast, etc), you are able to swing around on your rope.
Pressing grip while tethered allows you to grab the rope with either the throwing or main hand and throw yourself to the enemy, like the climbing rings. You can only throw yourself in the direction of the enemy
If both grip and trigger are pressed, you can yank the hook out, doing half the hooks damage, rounded up. The hook takes longer to return to you if you do this.
I saw that the dev wants the next weapon to be a high risk high reward close up weapon. I have no clue if this is true or not, but I feel like this idea fits super well for this purpose. I get that this is similar to the sword and knife, but I hope that this is unique enough to work well.
