#Twitch Launcher lags and monitor goes dark when Live and Not live. PC spec.

Like I mentioned on the off-topic. For whatever reason it lags, when live, and not live. Did a fresh GPU drive install, I even uninstalled and reinstalled Twitch Studios. It also seems to do the same thing with other launchers. That's what makes this very confusing. I don't think is the GPU because I am able to play games fine, with no problem. Also, it is not the monitor because I switched monitors and it still lagged when I used Twitch Studios, or other launchers.

did you add a lot of scenes/layers in twitch studio?

#

what's your cpu/gpu usage when that happens

magic otter
#

This is having Twitch Studios active, and running a game.

astral swan
#

what is lagging? the game? the stream preview? the stream viewer side?

#

or lagging as in low fps? are you capturing entire monitor?

magic otter
#

I would say everything. I had video alerts, they were lagging. I removed them thinking it would fix the problem, it didn't. I had Tangia, that got removed as well, still lagging. If I switch scenes, it lags. Now all of this is happening when I'm not live. But when I am live, it does the same thing. But the weird thing is that my game on my side does not lag, my viewers see the stream fine, even when Twitch Studios starts lagging, but the alerts do lag. They see the alerts frozen on their side, and I see it frozen on my side. Then when my monitor goes dark, I see it, but they don't see it. It is just so weird.

astral swan
#

without the game does it lag?

#

what if you change the settings, stream quality, encoder to x264?

magic otter
#

I had to setup the video sound alerts, and played multiple at the same time, no lag. So no lag without the game.

#

Yeah, still lagging with x264. I know this is a headache.

astral swan
#

how's your cpu usage?

magic otter
#

So I'm running the game again. This is very weird. If I click on the monitor that has the game, Twitch Studios lag, if I click over the monitor that has Twitch Studios, it does not lag on Twitch Studios. The video alerts lag, but not the game.

The highest CPU has gone is 1.4.

astral swan
#

so the multitask is giving your game priority

#

what if you move the app to the same monitor as your game

#

also for your game, can you reduce your game's graphics. in twitch studio, are you on a 1080 preset? try 720p60 or 720p30

magic otter
#

I'm at 720x60. I did a side by side. Game on the left, twitch studios next to it. And the game does not lag, alerts do, but not the game.

#

So I put the game on the right monitor, and kept twitch studios on the left, and it lagged. This is weird. But if they are next to each other, it does not lag.

#

The game graphics is set at medium.

#

check your nvidia settings

#

play with them.. 1070 is not the best these days

magic otter
#

I never messed with the nvidia settings, so I'm not sure what to do in their control panel. Do you think is the card? I have no problem playing the game offline, no lag, no nothing.

#

Thanks for your try. Hopefully I'll find a card and see if things go better. But thank you once again.

astral swan
#

I have the same card, but I don't have multiple monitors. my cpu is not as good. overall it's not as bad.

magic otter
#

Right

astral swan
#

are all of your monitors connected to the display ports/HDMIof the card?

magic otter
#

Yeah they are.

astral swan
#

yeah I can't think of anything. my guess is that gpu gave your monitor the game is running a higher priority and reduce performance for other apps in the other monitor

#

I don't see much in the nvidia control panel. you may have to keep twitch studio on the same monitor for now

magic otter
#

That shall be fun. But thanks once again, I appreciate it.

astral swan
#

you can kept a browser open for chat and stream manager

magic otter
#

True.

#

Thank you. Have a good day. 🙂

If I may chime in here (do let me know if I cannot), I have had a similar issue. For me it was "window manager" spiking my CPU. And every time it did it lagged. It only happens when running two monitors for me, like for you. Is it possible that you have the same issue?
The way I found out is by having task manager open and sorting by highest CPU usage, then I saw window manager spiking for like a second every so often. I'm willing to share my experience with this issue if you have the same thing. If not, then good luck anyway o/

I think there’s a way to disable window manager. It’s the program that allows you to snap open programs into different shapes on your screen. I’ll see if I can find it, when I get back on PC.

I might have been thinking of something else. Windows Session Manager is required, I think.

#

I'm looking through Windows Settings, and I'm not seeing what I was thinking of... sorry

delicate arch
#

dw, I also think it's required. at least, that's what I found in my search before

I got it fixed, I mean so far it hasn't given me any lag. I ran RDR2, and other games that lagged and so far nothing. I did some Googling. I saw a post on Google that said, "Video Stuttering on Second Monitor", that's what sorta happened to me but on the Twitch Studios. So after reading some more, someone mentioned how he went to System > Display > Graphics > Default Graphics Setting and Disable Hardware-Accelerated GPU. I did that, restarted the PC, and Twitch Studios is not lagging. Only time it shows lag is when I do a video alert, but the games so far have been fine.

astral swan
#

that is a good fix

magic otter
#

Yeah, so far so good. I ran RDR2 again and did a new game run since the first gameplay is up in the snowy mountains, and still no lag. So far so good. I'll do a stream test soon, and hopefully it stays good.
