Twitch Studio has recently (without me noticing) stopped capturing application audio when win11 audio output is headphones (same capture hardware as xlr microphone which works fine through nvidia broadcast). application audio is capture when win11 audio output is gpu hdmi device.

Can you post a picture of your audio mixer?

patent vale
#

I would but win11 is being a bit slow at the moment

#

nope nvm, win11 is fine the discord just won't let me post the picture

#

@restive elm I'm sat here with the screenshot of the mixer but this discord is not letting me post it ¬_¬

restive elm

#roles you may want to react there

patent vale
#

I turned windows off and back on again, let's see what happens

#

there we go

restive elm
#

Start by replacing mic with the default mic. And replace the other 2 sources with default speakers

patent vale
#

here it is with audio set to hdmi:

restive elm
#

what is M-Audio?

patent vale
#

the usb audio device the mic and headphones are plugged into

restive elm
#

you can't use another audio mixer with advance audio mixer please uninstall advanced audio mixer

patent vale
#

what other audio mixer am I supposedly using in this scenario

#

also note that this worked previously

restive elm
#

are you able to use it without m-audio software?

#

you have to pick one

patent vale
#

it's a usb audio device. so yes.

#

there is no m-audio software in use aside from the drivers.

restive elm
#

is m-audio able to let you choose apps? I am thinking Wave link from elgato

patent vale
#

lemme rephrase this another way

restive elm
#

ok that's fine

patent vale
#

it's a damn soundcard

restive elm
#

if it's just a driver.

#

is mic working at this point?

patent vale
#

yes

restive elm
#

for the individual audio sources. can you add the default speakers?

patent vale
#

according to the twitch studio help diaog, applications are not listed in the advanced audio mixer individual app source list unless they are outputting audio,. so some aspect of twitch studio is recognising that the applicaion is outputting audio. it's just not capturing it.

ok now with 2 defaults on the list. what is it you are trying to do?

patent vale
#

use the individual audio source

#

so I don't get the full desktop audio captured, which is the entire point of the individual audio sources feature

restive elm
#

and which app is it?

patent vale
#

you see the app in the list that doesn't have any green on it ?

restive elm
#

goto settings and then audio, do you have advanced audio mixer installed? is it installed recently?

patent vale
#

it has repeatedly been reinstalled in an effort to try and get it to behave

restive elm
#

after reinstall/install, have you restarted the computer?

patent vale
#

yup

restive elm
#

The program you are captuing. Does it have its own audio output thingy

patent vale
#

there is no device output option in Satisfactory

restive elm
#

!bug if it works on default, I suggest using it. specific app audio is not perfect. report bug if you have a moment.

patent vale

also note, have just tried this with arkham origins: blackgate, the application wasn't even listed as an individual app source until the win11 device was switched to hdmi.

now it is listed as an option when the win11 device is the usb one, but same problem as with satisfactory of no audio listed

patent vale
#

oh hey, look at that. boot up obs and the individual audio source capture works. guess I'm switching back to obs for a while 🤷‍♂️

restive elm
#

It can be your headphones

patent vale
restive elm
#

is this your headphone?

patent vale
#

yes

# patent vale

@restive elm and you'll notice that when the desktop audio was being captured that the app-specific audio was not.

so either I capture eeeeeeverything running on my desktop and use my headphones (this is bad) or I have to blare things through my speakers just to capture the app-specific audio (this is also bad)
