#remove locking characters behind passes/progression

Thank you. Some characters are pretty difficult to play so we're trying to gate access to them until you have some experience, to prevent bad first time experiences. Unlocking the characters is not intended to take long though.
But we hear you
Overwatch quickly went back on that decision because of how unfair it was, but I also think perks being locked can be bad.
I think for pvp, progression needs to be either match based or cosmetic only. So far the perks all have downsides, but if a meta develops then thats going to ruin the perks
I think a better way to do it is to have a new player experience. Overwatch has that now. You start with the easy characters, but the other characters quickly unlock, for example the harder characters unlock when you win 10/15/20 games, etc
I agree, but I also understand the new player experience thing, you never want a first time player on Kevin for example on their first game, but it should take 5 to 10 games to unlock I think, characters shouldn't be a grind.
You'll see everyone pick the unlock all characters option, players always think they know best but they don't
I get that, but then you run in to a player that goes 0/10 and then they quit the game, not understanding that its their fault
there are people that quit games after one loss, I know its better for players to pick whoever they wont, but from a dev stand point, its better to curate the experience, just not too much
