If you want to have a functional tail, I can help you with that. I play a tiefling in LARP and I'm currently developing version 2 of my tail which is articulated and easily to reproduce by 3d printing

I don't get the problems with the color design. Your design is quite tame and modern, burgundy/blue/black is a modern to casual combination that just works unless you want to be flashy.

For design purposes, tribal tattoos ( airbrush or sleeve) on one arm would add contrast and variation. The character looks really mundane besides the horns and tail.
