#How do I make shoulder pads?

Hello, I hope I ask the right person here. I was planning to make a coat with shoulder plates to make it look extra stylish. The problem was, that I didn't know how to make the kind of plates I needed for this project. The idea was to make a dragon head shoulder plate for the right shoulder and a samurai-like shoulder plate for the left shoulder. (picture for reference)

As I said, I don't know how to make these kinds of plates. I was wondering, whether Skill Tree already has made a video on this or if this is something that has yet to be made.

So my best guess is to use either hdpe blue barrels or Eva foam The purple string is the connections of lamilar armor

Okay. But how lightweight and durable is that foam?

GG @midnight ice, you just advanced to level 1!

What I forgot to mention, the shoulder pads should be detachable from the coat to easily wash the coat.

If your worried about the durability do the barrels

Okay. I'll take a look at how to work with these barrels.

All you need is a jigsaw and a heat gun. Or just use the burner on your stove

There are also sheets of hdpe (or other heat-moldable plastics) if that is an easier starting point. Probably not as cost effective though.

#

Are you looking for a roughly spherical shape?

Also lightness this sheet of blue barrel is 10 ounces

Great use of recycled material. Always a plus.

Okay, I'll try my best. But just to make sure I'll also look around for something different that is also lightweight, durable, cost effective and easy to work with.

Looked up some other angles for reference...that could be quite a complicated shape. 🤔

#

Might be with searching for a ball to use as a shaping anvil if you end up using a heat-moldable plastic.

for the dragon head prince armory has a dragon head helmet that im sure could be modified to be a shoulder piece

And just for the records, if I end up using a different material with less durability, what kind of coating could I use to make it more durable? Epoxy or something entirely different?

Plexi dip

For plastics and Eva foam

That shoulder plate looks like lamellar armor as for the dragon I’d use Eva foam and style it as you like
